The Eternal Word Jesus Christ the Son of God 1:1-5
(1)
The apostle speaks of the beginning when the Word was but Ibelieve he is asking me to look further back than that. John isthinking of a time when there was no time simply because theWord is timeless as the title to this section suggests. At this moment my spirit within me is constricted because of my physical body. I am limited to what I can do because I can only bein the one place at the one time. I cannot be in two places at the sametime. Impossible. However; before He became Incarnate the Word waseverywhere .There was not a time when He did not exist. A fact thatis beyond my understanding because I am made from the dust evenalthough my soul has been reignited through God the Holy Spirit andI have been born again. My spirit has been rebirthed. This great evangelist John the apostle because that was one of his many gifts from the Lord wants me to think further than myself because who he is writing of is the greatest Person than there willever be. He who made me. At one time stood outside of me. Thegospel is all about the Word Jesus Christ and here John is speakingof his preincarnate state before I was born and everyone else.Jesus Christ the eternal Word Son of God from everlasting toeverlasting in His radiant glorious glory that outshines the sun themoon the stars and the universe reigned with His Father God andGod the Holy Spirit beyond the universe, time, space and history. After all He was the very one who placed them in position. Howawesome! How incredible. What I see in front of me is something of gigantic cosmic proportions deeply profound beyond my tiny earthlyintellect. He who made and rules the cosmos was now coming tomake a cosmos change to the comos by coming in Person to the worldI live in.The very Person of the Son of God He who made me wascoming to save me and countless others who are my brothers andsisters in Christ Jesus. John writes these words so that God the HolySpirit can draw my soul and spirit deeper into the very presence of the living God all praise and honour must come from my tongue myheart my strength and mind in exaltation of His glorious majestic

radiant Personality who does this for me because of His love towardsme which is undeserved and the rest of the saints only because Hechooses to do so. Hallelujah!!I notice that John does not take credit for what he writeshere because he does not mention his name the early church traditionaccredits it to him. Nevertheless in this I see the humility of mySaviour the Lord Jesus Christ who is also the Lord of John theapostle and evangelist who guides him in the writing of this accountof the gospel.Talking about humility the greatest act of humility is the Sonof God coming to the earth as a man and leaving his glory behind asone who is God absolutely breathe taking as it would have been forthis great godly man. When John speaks of the Word as a title of my Lord in thisaccount of the gospel he is thinking of his divine deity thepreincarnate God before becoming a man. He is all that God theFather is being His Son. I must never lose sight of this. Being theWord Jesus Christ is the ultimate identity and expression of God HisFather in heaven He is the very stamp and image of God the Father. He is the final Word to mankind those who looked upon Him as aman saw God the Father but did not see that because their eyes wereveiled but not all of them. He is the utopia of all that I seek and desirefrom my Lord included all my brothers and sisters who are in Christ.Amen.When God spoke the universe into being and everything whichthat entails the Word was there with Him. Now God speaks throughthe living Word Jesus Christ His Son to all of humanity in the gospelas given to the apostle John. Jesus Christ is depicted here as theliving Word and so that part of deity is exclusively His as the Wordbut it is not the full deity or the Godhead as it is known. He is knownas the Word not all of the Godhead as the second Person of thetrinity.I am using words to try to convey to my heart as well as mymind the absolute greatness of God without being proud and to stoppride from taking over my heart because then these words wouldbecome empty and meaningless to me. I want to know God so that Ican become like Him. In order that I may please Him. The only wayto do that is to study His word as I am doing with the help of God theHoly Spirit.
