Remarks round 4 Round 4 is worked in the back loops. It makes a difference, see the pictures below.

When you use only 1 color or when rounds 4 and 5 are worked in the same color its makes no difference how you work these rounds.

When you dont want to add the round of picots it also looks better to work round 4 in the back loops Color rnd 5 shows

It can make a difference how you work the tip of the heart in round 3. You can crochet the 3 corner stitches in 1 stitch or in 3 stitches. See the pictures below. When the center heart is made in a dark color and round 4 is in a light color it looks better to make the corner in 3 stitches instead of in 1 stitch.

Written chard. Rnd 1: in loop: Ch 4, 7 times: tr(dc),chain 1. Sl st in 3th ch. Rnd 2: Ch 4, 7 times: popcorn-stitch, tr(dc) chain 1. Sl st in 3th ch.

Rnd 3: attach color 2. Dc(sc). Between the popcornstich and the tr(dc): dc(sc), htr(hdc), tr(dc), dtr(tr).4 dtr(tr) between next two stitches, 3 dtr(tr) between next two stitches (see photo).2 tr(dc) between next two stitches, htr(hdc), dc(sc) between next two stitches, dc(sc), htr(hdc) between next two stitches, 2 tr(dc) between next two stitches. Corner: chain 1, dtr(tr) on 4th tr(dc) round 2, chain 1. Crochet to the beginning of this round in opposite order. Slip stitch in first dc(sc).

Rnd 4: attach color 3. Dc(sc) on dc(sc) round 3 (see photos). Chain 1, dc(sc) on tr(dc) round 3. chain 1, dc(sc) on all the 8 dtr(tr)s of rnd 3. Skip 1 , chain 1, tr(dc) on tr (dc) rnd 3, chain 1, tr(dc) on dc(sc) rnd 3, chain 1, tr(dc) on htr(hdc) rnd 3. Skip 1 , chain 1, tr(dc) on tr (dc) rnd 3. Chain 1. Corner: tr(dc)-dtr(tr)-tr(dc) on corner dtr(tr) round 3. Crochet to the beginning of this round in opposite order. Slip stitch in first dc(sc).

Ch, tr(dc), htr(hdc), 3x ch-sc(dc), ch, htr(hdc), ch, in next space: tr(dc)-ch-tr(dc), ch. Corner in next space: dtr(tr)- 3 ch-dtr(tr). Ch, in next space: tr(dc)-ch-tr(dc), ch, htr(hdc), ch, dc(sc), ch. You now reached the tip of the heart. Go back to the next corner: Dc(sc), ch, htr(hdc), ch, in next space: tr(dc)-ch-tr(dc). Corner in next space : dtr(tr)-3 ch-dtr(tr). Ch, in next space: tr(dc)-ch-tr(dc), ch, htr(hdc), 3x ch-sc(dc), ch, htr(hdc), ch, tr(dc), ch. Corner: in next space tr(dc)-3 ch-tr(dc). Corner: In the 3 ch space: dc(sc)-3 ch-dc(sc). Ch, dc(sc), 6x ch-htr. Sl st in 2th ch. Rnd 7: sl st in next space, 4 ch (= tr(dc),ch), tr(dc), ch. Corner: in the 3 ch space: 2 tr(dc)-3 ch- 2 tr(dc). Go with: ch-tr(dc) to the next corner. Make all the corners in the same way. Corner: in the 3 ch space: 2 tr(dc)-3 ch- 2 tr(dc). End with a sl st in the 3th ch. You can now add as many rounds as you like. Make the corners as described.

Picot round: Make picots and dc(sc)s between round 4 and 5.

POTHOLDER
Crocheted the back of the potholder in one color and with puff stitches in round 2. Weave in ends.

Crochet the 2 parts together with picots and dc(sc)s. Make a loop in one of the corners.

Improvise at the corners if necessary.

PUFF STICH: Yarn over, pull up the loop for 1 cm. Yarn over, pull up the loop for 1 cm. Yarn over, pull up the loop for 1 cm etc. 3 times in total Yarn over, make a stitch through all the threads on the hook. One s.c. to finish the puff stitch.
