The month of June begins almost immediately (June 2) with the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of
the Lord (previously known as Corpus Christi Sunday). As I was working with our music leader to choose songs
for Mass for this solemnity, I came across an interesting article that talked about fairly recent Eucharistic songs
which fail to give proper attention to our belief in the real presence of Jesus in Holy Communion. In such
limited space, I can't go into detail, however let me say that I applaud the use of some "oldies but goody"
songs like "O Sacrament Most Holy" and "Pange Lingua" which speak of our belief as Catholics that Jesus is
truly present body and blood, soul and divinity in Holy Communion. I must say that I was impressed at the
Masses that were celebrated at the Knight's of Columbus State Convention in April where I saw a reverence
and respect for Jesus, present in the Holy Eucharist, especially during the time of reception of Communion. I
pray that all of us, at every Mass that we are privileged to participate in, will stand in reverence and awe
before the Lord and let this food from heaven truly inspire and strengthen us in our journey to the eternal
banquet feast in heaven. "O Sacrament most holy, O Sacrament Divine, all praise and all thanksgiving, be every
moment thine."

entered the seminary on his 67th birthday and he will also be Ordained to the Priesthood in 2014.
Thank you to all the Councils and Assemblies who participate in the RSVP program. Thank you all for your
continued support of our Priests and soon to be priests. God bless you all and please pray for our Seminarians

Retention is a key to success for membership. When you drop a member you then have to recruit a new
member to make your goal so it is important to have good retention committee. I know that you cant save
everyone but find out there objections and try to resolve their issue.
Council Officers should be leading by example and have recruited/our recruiting one new member.
OWNERSHIP: When you recruit a new member it is important that you take ownership of him. Be a mentor;
take him to the 2nd and 3rd Degrees. Get him involved in activities. Everyone cant do everything but we can
do some. Involvement of members keeps the Council growing.
Here are some ideas for the upcoming months that might help your recruiting:
Continuous: Officers Challenge - Recruit one new member. All Officers should be actively
recruiting. You have the experience and should be leading by example.
June: Thirty days to finish strong. It is time to close your year out with positive numbers.
Continue to ask gentlemen about becoming a Brother Knight and inform that about our 4 Corner
Stones; Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism.
