Contest Rules and Regulations
The contest is open to all high school students in Lancaster County attending public, private, faith-based,home or charter schools.
Entries must have been published in a school or community newspaper
All entries must have been published during the school year (
April through June 2013 or September 2013 through April 2014
). No summer entries from 2013 will be accepted.

1. All entries must be accompanied by an entry form. Please attach (do not paste) forms tocompleted entries.2. Entries, except for those in the Overall Student Newspaper category,
must besubmitted mounted on 8-1/2” x 11” card stock
or construction paper.Entries larger thanthe space provided may be cut to on two pages.3. Entries must be original newspaper clippings. If newspaper is an online paper, print thearticle and follow the instructions in Number 2.4. Published winning entries may not exceed 700 words in any of the submitted works;therefore, if the piece is longer, the writer must also send an edited version whichdoes not exceed the prescribed word limit.5. Only the edited 700 + word writing will be judged; however, should the piece win, theedited version of the student or newspaper staff will be printed.6.
All occurrences of the writer’s or photographer’s name must be covered with white-out.
7. For overall newspaper entries, please submit the entire newspaper. If the paper is anonline paper, print the copies that you wish to be considered for an award. See CategoryRules and Regulations for the number of issues to print.8. For photography entries, the published photo may be accompanied by an original print.9. Each winner must sign and agree to a published photograph in the Lancaster Newspapers.10. The possibility of online submissions is under discussion; however, this will not bedetermined until a date closer to the new year.The division in which each student or newspaper will compete is determined by the frequency of publication of the newspaper.
There are two divisions: 1-5 issues per year and 6+ issues per year.
