ABOUT THIS REPORT
Scope & Method
This report forecasts US plastic pipe demand in meters and metric tons to 2017. Totaldemand in metric tons is segmented by resin in terms of:
 polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
 high density polyethylene (HDPE)
other resins such as acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS),polypropylene (PP), and aluminum plastic composite. Total demand in meters is segmented by market as follows:
 residential construction
 nonresidential construction
 nonbuilding construction
other markets such as oil and gas production, agriculture, and processmanufacturing. To illustrate historical trends, total demand and the various segments are reported atfive-year intervals for 2007 and 2012. Total pipe demand (all materials) is also providedfor 2012. Forecasts emanate from the identification and analysis of pertinent statisticalrelationships and other historical trends/events as well as their expectedprogression/impact over the forecast period. Changes in quantities between reportedyears of a given total or segment are typically provided in terms of five-year compoundannual growth rates (CAGRs). For the sake of brevity, forecasts are generally stated insmoothed CAGR-based descriptions to the forecast year, such as “demand is projectedto rise 3.2% annually through 2017.” The result of any particular year over that period, however, may exhibit volatility and depart from a smoothed, long-term trend, ashistorical data typically illustrate.Key macroeconomic indicators are also provided at five-year intervals with CAGRs forthe years corresponding to other reported figures. Other various topics, includingprofiles of pertinent leading suppliers, are covered in this report. A full outline of reportitems by page is available in the  Table of Contents.
