First, please, define your terms. For instance, 'collective' has socialist connotations. As the last 92 years have shown, socialists have never intended to accomplish what they claim in the public forum. If they had, and open content and open knowledge meant what they purport, students in the United States would have made quantum leaps in learning skills, instead of statist concepts. Children would be able to think for themselves, instead of parroting leftist propaganda designed to enslave them and the generations that follow them to the will of dictators. Statists (Obama, Pelosi, Reed, Frank, Dodd, et al, and their accomplices in the media, the legal system, labor, and in education) crave position, power, and wealth. They destroy the future of children to attain them. Collectively, they are a subhuman species and a lower life form. Open content? Open knowledge? Open content would mean that real scientists should be able to present evident that refuted--nay, destroyed--lies such as those spread by the pusillanimous Al Gore. Open content would mean the end of political correctness that stifles free speech, free thought, and opposition. Propaganda is not open knowledge; it is the antithesis of genuine learning and understand. Open knowledge would end liberalism in its current form, because statists cannot win--and never have won--in the arena of ideas. It is why they have striven--and still continue to--subvert young minds, steal elections, promulgate lies in the press, and rule through fiat and fear. Incidentally, I say 'current', because contrary to the perversity perpetrated upon the term by these statists, a liberal values freedom for everyone, regardless of his or her race, color, creed, gender, physique, or national origin. Any dictatorship is anathema to a true liberal, because tyranny goes against nature, which is growth to maturity, be it a flower, a fruit, or in this case, the fulfillment of human potential. Nothing grows, except that it must be free to do so. Modern liberals are not liberal, let alone progressive. They resort to policies and tactics that throughout history ultimately have failed. Statism sows the seeds of its own destruction, because it violates human nature.
