I have always been fascinated by art and music ever since I was a small child. The way the colors, shadings, shapes, and characters dance around a page. When I was 12 years old, I first started experimenting with computer art in ANSI and ran my own BBSs for years. With the development of technology and the internet I continued filling my curiosity of new programs and techniques, eventually diving into the realm of adobe. Now that Im an adult, I realize it is in art and design where my real passion lies; that art affects each of us differently, conveying a message to each and every person that views it. I am the person with that message.

National Baby Food Festival Logo Design T-Shirt Design

The National Baby Food Festival was a redesign of the festival campaign. The main idea of this series was to show that the festival wasnt only for babies, that it was for families, and people of all ages. I designed the logo as a baby food jar, because it embodies what the festival is about; and you can do so many different things with a baby food jar.

National Baby Food Festival Continued Poster Design

The National Baby Food Festival poster was a play on Andy Warhols Campbell Soup series. The reason for the different foods is to show that the National Baby Food Festival is a festival for all ages. I chose the color scheme for this randomly. The bright colors are very summer oriented, and if you look closely, tic-tactoe is a winner on the poster.

Soundfest

Soundfest was a festival that was only held for one year. Soundfest was a festival the was headlined by a few national musical acts, but was mostly music acts from Michigan, many being from Muskegon. 2011 was the first year Soundfest was put together.

Soundfest Continued

I decided to design the Soundfest ad campaign; it includes a brochure, poster and postcard mailer. My main objective was to communicate summertime, and fun through each of these different pieces. I experimented with some ANSI shapes while working on these pieces. I felt like it was one way to bring the old with the new.

Surreal Paper
The surreal paper ad originally was an assignment for my photoshop class. The idea behind it was to make a fantasy picture using stock photos. I made this scenery with a photo of the desert, a book, and a few pictures of lava. I feel this picture almost being inspired by Salvador Dali. I changed this to a magazine ad for a paper company that makes and sells high quality paper and journals for artists and writers. The reason I chose the topic of paper, is because I understand that paper quality plays a huge part in the finished product.

Michigan Humane Society

Michigan Human Society was a newsletter assignment. We were given the text and pictures, and told to lay this out in a professional way. The catch was that we had to use all of the text. I drew the whimsical cats, and dogs going down the sidebar, and laid the newsletter out in what I thought is the most effective way. I feel the text is easy to follow and that the pictures do an excellent job of helping the animals find new homes.

Newsletter Design

I set the Michigan Humane Society newsletter up like it was a Sales and Services sheet. Most of the text in the body copy talks about their adoptions and additional services.

DJs PUB and Grill ID

I did DJs Pub and Grill business Identity freelancing. The proprietors of this establishment wanted a logo that was updated from their old logo; so I did just that. One of the main concerns was not wanting to change the sign in front of the building, but wanting to update the feel of the business at the same time. I feel this identity gives off a classic feel, while at the same time, breathing new life into the business. The owners of DJs Pub and Grill decided to go with the 2 color logo, as print costs went down across the board compared to the costs of 3 color, and full color jobs.

Skater Monthly Newsletter

The Skater Monthly newsletter was an assignment where we were to make a newsletter about anything in the world. I chose to do mine about skateboarding in June. I wrote most of the articles in here, except the article on how to kickflip. I believe that if this was a real newsletter, real skateboarders would like it because of all the different DIY articles and the list of skateparks in the area.

Alfred Hitchcock Movie Collection Poster

The Alfred Hitchcock piece is a poster advertising the release of his DVD/Bluray collection being released. This was originally supposed to be an old style political ad (in the same style as the elections in the 1800s) so I changed it to be an ad for a movie collection. These are a few of my favorite Hitchcock films, minus The Birds. Anyone that know Hitchcock knows that the suspense in these movies hits you like a whirlwind, so that text, is inadvertantly resembling a tornado. Alfred Hitchcock is finishing Psycho, and the Master of Suspense Collection ends with the very same movie.

Anti-Domestic Violence Poster Poster Design

This is a poster design to help stop domestic violence. It was designed for an assignment that was supposed to discuss a societal issue that we thought was important. I think that domestic violence is an important topic to talk about because it happens so often, and so many people are affected by it; while at the same time they arent educated about it, or know how to get away from an abusive relationship. I didnt want to be cliche when making this poster by using imagery such as beaten women. I went with a much more simpler method, making the viewer use their imagination, and put themselves in this situation. The words look like they were written fast, in a note while running out the door away from the abuse. The red signifying blood, or make-up. So many strong things can be taken from this poster.

Cross Balance Corporate ID Letterhead Design

This is a corporate identity for a fictional yoga studio called Cross Balance. I stuck with an earthtone pallette because yoga is a soothing series of excercises. I also felt that the colors reminded one of a bamboo thicket, which gives the feeling of being in nature. Yoga is done in such fluid motions, I felt the logo had to be natural.

Michigan TrailMix Magazine

The Michigan Trail Mix magazine was a final project for one of my design classes. The main objective was to make a magazine on the topic assigned, and make an ad for the company you were given. I decided to go take all of the scenic pictures in the magazine. All of the scenic pictures are from Lake Harbor Park in February 2013. I also wrote the article in the magazine. The Camelbak advertisement received a lot of good remarks from my classmates, and teachers; as did this magazine. Everyone really liked the pictures in it, and the articles sense of humor.
