Next week we have a lot going on in the ElementarySchool. Our CMC Book Week will be taking place to pro-vide our students opportunities to learn more about howbooks are created by meeting with different authors andtaking part in storytelling sessions. Classes will each be as-signed to different times throughout the week. Our Chil-dren’s Musical Theater directed by Linell will be presenting“The Nightingale” performed by students in grades four andfive. They will be on stage in the Fine Arts Theatre for astudent performance on Wednesday April 29 at 1:00 p.m.,followed by an evening performance at 6:00 p.m. We look forward to watching our students sharing their singing andacting talents! It is at this time of the year that we start to receive a lot of questions about classes for the next school year. In Elemen-tary School next year, we will be adding an additional class of grade 2 and grade 5 will become a part of MiddleSchool. Therefore we will have the following classes:Pre School 4 classesECLC 5 classesGrade 1 4 6 classes eachAside from the students going into their second year of PreSchool, where we maintain the group and teachers as muchas possible, mixing of classes is something that happens atevery grade level. We have a relatively transient studentpopulation and we feel it gives us the opportunity to balancethe classes for the start of the new year. It also helps thechildren expand their circle of friends and helps them toadapt to change. The sectioning process is very involved, one in which all theteachers spend considerable time on and give a lot of thought and consideration. The aim of the process is to cre-ate balanced groups in terms of gender, language proficiency, academic needs, emotional and social dynamics and a mix of ethnicities. Students receiving Learning Support and ESL arealso distributed evenly across the classes. As much as possi-ble, we also try to place each child with at least one otherperson he/she works well with. The teachers of the grade are responsible for establishingthe classes their students are moving to. For example,

URGENT…if you know that your child(ren) will not be returning to ISM for the 2009-10 school year, please in-form the Admission Office as soon as possible if you have not already done so. We currently have very few fami-lies indicating that they will not be returning and consequently there are an ever growing number of applicants ina WAITPOOL for possible openings. This is causing great distress and anxiety in those families (and in the Ad-mission Office). If you are sure that your child will be leaving ISM, please submit a Withdrawal NotificationForm or contact and verify with the Admission Office (840-8488) that he/she is listed as not returning for SY2009-10. The Withdrawal Notification Form can be obtained from the Admission Office or from the ISM website un-der the Admission tab and then click on Re-Enrollment & Withdrawal. This will be a great help for our planningand to the many families waiting to be admitted to the school. Thank you.

Dear Parents, Just a reminder that we, in the ArtDepartment, are still in recyclingmode. We particularly require news-papers at the moment and lots of it. Weare also currently in need of ribbons, string, bot-tle caps and tops, old tools and toys (even if it does notwork), gift wrap, greeting cards, magazines, hardware(broken is fine), transparent plastic wrap etc . Frankly, there is not much we can’t find a use for. Howeverplease do not send juice or milk containers as they at-tract cockroaches even when washed. Thanks so much,
