Couldn't you also just say that it's generally younger people that are naive, idealistic, and ignorant enough to fall for the party line. Of course the wee ones make excellent cannon fodder. If this assertion holds any water at all, it's the inability of a society or culture to educate, discipline, and engage their youths. Large numbers of young bodies with underdeveloped minds simply make conflict more feasible. This is true for the abundance of any strategic resource.
