Who is The Sower? What's in his seed that makes him the most wanted man on earth?
The Da Vinci Code meets Sex and The City in this page turning thriller about a virus that cures all diseases, but the only way to pass it to others is through sex.
THE SOWER is the outrageous, twisted brand new novel from Kemble Scott, author of the bestseller SoMa.
"Dark, subversive, and laugh-out-loud funny.”
-- Raj Patel, author of the international bestseller Stuffed and Starved.
"The Sower is the Da Vinci Code as seen through the twisted eyes of John Waters and transcribed by the Marquis de Sade.”
--David Henry Sterry, author of the bestseller Chicken.
"The Sower entertains, enlightens, and manages to push a whole lot of buttons in the process...one of those ‘can’t put it down’ books that runs the reader though the full slate of emotions from start to finish."
--Kate Douglas, author of the bestselling Wolf Tales series.
The Story:
Bill Soileau is the last guy you’d expect to save the world.
From the shocking opening chapter of The Sower, Bill is the ultimate bad boy. A deviously handsome player in the world of San Francisco’s sexual underground, he doesn’t seem to care for anyone except himself.
Then while on assignment working overseas in remote Armenia, he’s infected with a manmade supervirus that appears to be a cure for all diseases. With the help of a brilliant French doctor, Bill soon discovers he’s the sole carrier, and the only way to pass the miracle cure onto others is through sex.
When word gets out, Bill finds himself on the most wanted list. He’s the ultimate weapon in the culture wars, pitting him against right wing ideologies, religious extremists, and the most famous pop star on the planet.

A have a new column up on The New York Times, and it's bringing an avalanche of reaction. Politics? Religion? Gays? Nope. It's about bikes. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/06/us/... Folks are commenting here: http://bayarea.blogs.nytimes.com/2009...
Tonight! 7 p.m. I'm at the Redwood City Downtown Library, 1044 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, CA. Talking about the future of books, Scribd, and more. Come say hello!
My latest "Barbary Coast" column is in today's edition of The New York Times. For the first time, victims of SF's infamous Halloween shooting speak out. It looks like they were victimized twice: first by the gunman, and then by the city. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/30/us/...
Adventure Girl MiMi:
Just saw your YOUTUBE promo! One of my first digital books will be yours. I'm a RN and it looks enticing!
I also discovered 2 great poets lately, Brian Heffron and Saxaphone911, check them out if you get a chance. Congrats and thank you for writing, readers like me appreciate and really respect it!
I'm now writing a column for The New York Times. It's called "Barbary Coast" and appears every Friday. The latest installment is just out this morning: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/23/us/... Enjoy! Best, Scott (aka Kemble)

congrats on the first column, which is awesome - can't wait for next week. and congrats on landing this prestigious position. you were the perfect match, and the NYT is lucky (and smart).
Luddite:
Enlightening first column, Scott.
Congratulations.
Gaining equal civil rights is a long, hard path. Ask the African Americans, ask the women...there are many more steps to take.
Your column discusses some of them.
And that is good. Thank you.

Just finished Kemble Scott's "The Sower" --Wow!! Read it right here on Scribd, guys, but not when those kidlets can see the screen! Am now continuing with another category-bending book but this time non-fiction: Paul Fussell's 1975 "The Great War and Modern Memory." A work of literary cultural history, therefore of particular interest to writers and poets.
In “The Sower” Scott has put a subculture onto the world stage. Plot, mystery, intrigue, humor, and sex … some combination! This is a book that keeps you reading until the unexpected ending. Louis Fried, author of “Other Countries/Other Worlds”

From today's Huffington Post: an insightful piece about indie bookstores by Praveen Madan, owner of Haight Ashbury's The Booksmith. This is a cool store run by great people. It was their support and encouragement that turned my Scribd novel THE SOWER into a bestseller. Writers: listen to them!
