A mixture of 70 liters of water and
milk contins 10% water. How much
water must be added to make water
12.5% of the resulting mixture?

 In such questions, always start with that

material, which is not being increased –
here it is milk. Milk is 63 liters. Now 63
liters milk will become 87.5% thus total
quantity will be 63* 100/87.5 =72
 That means, we shall add 2 liters of
water (72-70) answer.

fineness are mixed together. What is
the fineness of the mixture?

 Letus take weighted average in such

cases. (6*15 + 5*14 + 4*12.5) / (6+5+4)

years was Rs. 882. Find the sum lent

year is 882 / 1.5 = 588
 Rate is : 588/8400 =.07 8 6.66

 The ratio is .33 :1

A man lends Rs. 1000 in four sums. If
he gets 3% for Rs. 200, 3.5% for Rs.
400 and 5% for Rs. 250 what % must
he get or the remainder if his
average interest is 3.8%?
 Overall average interest rate=3.8%, thus
he will get 38 total amount. He gets 6 on
200, 14 on 400 and 12.5 on 250. Thus
he has got 32.5 on 850 Rupees. Thus he
gets 5.5 on Rs. 150. thus interest rate is :
5.5 / 150 =.0366 or 3.666% answer.

In what ratio should water be mixed
with milk to gain 16.666% by selling
it at cost price?
 Let us assume that
milk costs Re. 1 per 1
liter, we get profit of MIXTURE
.16 on this cost by
selling it at Re. 1 again.
We assume that water
costs us Zero. Thus
0 1
profit of .16 represents 6/7
water. thus cost of
milk is now .84. 1 *
100/116.666 = .8571 or
6/7. Now use ratio 1/7 6/7
table to solve it. Ratio:

Sides of a triangle are in ratio
½: 1/3 : ¼. What are the angles?
 Let us take LCM of 2,3,4 we get 12.
Mutiply all these ratios by 12, we get new
ratio of 6, 4,3. thus first angle is 6/13*180
= 83
 Similarly calculate for other angles.
Answer.
 Sum of all the angles is 180 in the case
of triangle.

: ¼. . Smallest side is 48 , what is
perimeter?
 Let us take LCM of 2,3,4 we get 12.
Mutiply all these ratios by 12, we get new
ratio of 6, 4,3. thus the largest side will
be 6/3 *48 = 96. Second largest one will
be 4/3*48 = 64
 Thus perimeter = 96+64+48 = 208
answer
