Intranets
 
The term intranet is based on ‘intra' meaning internal and ‘net' meaningnetwork. Therefore, intranets are internal networks. They act as an internalcommunications medium within an organisation. With intranets,companies create a smaller, internal version of the internet that aredesigned to simply and conveniently facilitate the sharing of differenttypes of company information. Intranets have a similar structure to thebroader internet. However, they differ in that they are smaller networksand less public, being accessible only to the members of an organisation.

Corporate intranets are those networks that are created for company wideinformation. It is called corporate intranet because it is for the corporateorganizations that uses its features. Specific daily within the companyinformation sharing is achieved using corporate intranets.
