Kaplan Publishing recently published Dan Schawbel's new book Me 2.0 .Other big name publishers including Random House and MIT Press are partnering with Scribdto distribute their content. Scribd is an excellent marketing tool for publishers and authors asScribd documents can easily be viewed and are indexed by search engines. Scribd alsoallows users to easily embed documents into theirwebsite or blog using their iPapertechnology. Scribd has been dubbed “the YouTube for document sharing.”Documents can be public or private. Public documents can be viewed by anyone andare indexable by the search engines. Private documentscan only be viewed by the user andthe people the user decides to share them with on Scribd. Scribd also has an API so thatoutside developers can build applications that use the iPaper technology. There are many categories of documents on Scribd ranging from books to sheet music& lyrics. It is also extremely easy to share these documents with the sharing tools built intothe iPaper menu. Scribd generates revenuethrough advertisements and actually embedsGoogle Adsense into their documents. They also have a revenue sharing program for userswho publish documents that generate ad revenue.
Our Proposal
We are planning to create a document with information about the uses and features of Scribd. We will then upload the document to Scribd andalso embed the document into ourpersonal blogs. We also plan on making a screen capture video tutorial of the process of uploading to Scribd and embedding documents in blogs. This video will be posted to YouTube and also linked on our class blogs. ______________________ ______________________ ______________________
