Tournament Mission
The Phillip Talley Memorial Scholarship Tournament was created in the memory of Phillip Talley who was tragically taken from us on July 13, 2008. One quarter of the entry fees collected from this tournament will be used to fund the Phillip Talley Memorial Scholarship Fund at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas. The Phillip Talley Memorial Scholarship at Martin High School will award multiple $500 scholarships each year to outstanding graduating seniors pursuing an education in fine arts. Phillip was born July 26, 1984 in Arlington, Texas. He was a 2003 graduate of Martin High School, where he was a member of the Varsity Warrior ice hockey team. His energetic personality was admired by everyone who came into his life. Phillip's love of hockey began in the 5th grade, and he continued to play as a goalie for the Army of Twelve Monkeys, the Warriors, and the Patriots. "Diddy", a favorite nickname among his friends, formed many deep friends throughout the years. He enjoyed life and continued to stay in touch with "the gang". Phillip's enthusiasm carried over in his teaching at Children's Courtyard, where he taught in the after school program. "Mr. Phil", as his kids affectionately called him, was well-loved by his co-workers, the children he adored, and their parents. Phillip is deeply missed by his family, his Courtyard family, his hockey family, and his friends.
