Notes from the Author

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to download this book.

It’s funny how life works. Initially, I started writing a book on conspiracy theories in general, because of the enormous number of government, company and individual conspiracy topics there are to choose from out there on the internet. Some have a good basis in reality and others are, in my view, a little out there. I am, however, adamant that everyone has a right to their opinion, and even if I don’t agree with what they think, I feel it’s important to hear their claims subjectively and evaluate them for myself. That is the greatest thing about the internet – everyone has a voice.

I thought it would be fun, as someone who loves research and has a thirst for knowledge, to investigate the conspiracies out there for myself, and present the results in a book format with links to the pages involved. When I started writing, I went with the top ten conspiracies I knew of, and one of them was HAARP. It quickly became evident that this topic deserved a lot more than just a chapter. The complexity of what HAARP is, and what it can do, could easily fill an entire book.

HAARP could very well change the world as we know it. Really! As a weapon of war, or scientific advance? Depends which side of the fence you sit on. You see this device, according to reports, has the potential to change the atmospheric conditions of the entire planet.

I realise the magnitude of such a claim and accept that some may see it as a massive overreaction – but it is exactly the claim being made by a small group of people who say they are desperately trying to wake humanity from slumber and open our eyes to what is happening around us.

I want to remain impartial to claims made by others and purely report, allowing you to make your own judgment. This book is a compilation of information freely available over the internet, and references are given where original material is available, although that is not always practical. Hopefully, as we learn together, the intricacies of HAARP will become known, and by the end of this investigation, both you and I will have a better understanding of what it can and can’t do.

The biggest point that needs to be made is that HAARP is not a theory. HAARP devices are real. There are dozens of them around the world and little is known of their true capability.

On a side note, so that I don’t confuse the issue, when I use the term HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program), I will not be talking about any one particular operational center, but the device itself. The name of HAARP facilities around the world changes, so to make life easy on all of us, while not technically correct, HAARP will be the device and not the location.

Also, I will not bore you too much with the technical details about how HAARP operates. I will leave that to others based on their expertise in the area, as their investigations would far outweigh anything I can present to you here. But there are some basics that need explanation before we go further.

Simplistically, the earth is surrounded by a magnetic field that protects us from harm. It is generated by an iron core within the earth and is a natural phenomenon, not just on earth but throughout the universe.

I will never forget the first thing I learnt about magnetism. It has stayed with me for more than 25 years, and even though science has come a long way over that time, it remains true to this day. The statement is, We know what magnetism is, we also know how to apply it in a number of ways, but we don’t really know much about it. Extraordinary, isn’t it? The planet’s biggest defence against solar radiation, meteorites, space junk and solar winds, is also one of science’s greatest mysteries.

Bill Bryson, author of A Short History of Nearly Everything, expressed it perfectly when he said, The more we learn, the more we realise we don't know. If that statement is correct, then HAARP is something we need to be very careful about playing with until we understand what it’s really capable of, and the potential harmonic side effects of its operation.

The basic concept of HAARP is that it uses the ionosphere and the magnetic field around the earth to bend and manipulate the atmosphere. HAARP is a radio transmitter that works on a massive frequency range, and bounces radio waves off or into the ionosphere. Depending on what frequencies are used, and the cycle of transmutation, the effects can differ.

From my personal knowledge of magnetism and the delicate atmosphere that keeps us alive, I can tell you that HAARP scares me more than any other conspiracy I’ve heard about. Thus, I am coming into this investigation worried. There is a clear and present danger in experimenting with and manipulating something that science openly admits is not just delicate, but little understood.

If you would like a more in-depth education on the technical aspects of HAARP, who better to tell you than a man who has spent the last two and a half decades studying and reporting on it?

Nicholas John Begich, Jr. is a writer, lecturer and conspiracy theorist, and the forerunner in conspiracy theories associated with the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program. Begich wrote and published the book Angels Don't Play This HAARP in the mid-1990s, has been a frequent guest on Art Bell’s Coast to Coast AM, and appeared on Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura.

I strongly urge you to watch his video on YouTube for a better understanding of how HAARP works.

The Context Of HAARP

When you sit back and take a look at humanity’s achievements, it’s hard not to argue that we have an urge to destroy ourselves. I know that sounds negative and almost depressive, but look at the scientific research and billions of dollars invested in developing weapons of destruction. Such resources would serve humanity better in areas like climate study, combating famine, and cancer research, over a military application.

The good news is that HAARP might help humanity. It could be a device that serves the needs of millions and, via its capability to renew ozone, help save us from destruction. The bad news is that many believe it will not be used for this purpose.

History certainly supports the pessimistic. Back in 1938, when two Germans, Otto Hahn and Fritz Strassmann, were working at the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute in Berlin, they deduced that when they bombarded uranium with neutrons, they could split the uranium atoms' nuclei into two parts, releasing enormous amounts of energy and more neutrons. This process become known as fission and heralded the start of the nuclear arms race. It soon became known to scientists around the world that it was possible to create an energy-producing fission chain reaction, as the neutrons from one split atom ploughed into surrounding atoms, splitting them also. And, as with all discoveries, there were two paths for scientific momentum. A controlled chain reaction could be used for constructive purposes, like making heat to generate electricity, a way to reduce greenhouse gasses by removing older facile fuel plants and provide a cleaner and more productive method for the supply of energy. However, as we know, there was another application for this discovery that had governments talking – an uncontrolled chain reaction would be a bomb of incalculable power.

Sure enough, during World War II, the United States, with the assistance of physicists, mathematicians, and engineers from the U.S., Britain, Canada and Germany, completed the Manhattan Project and produced the first atomic bomb.

Robert Oppenheimer was the head of science for the Manhattan Project, and Felix Block, David Bohm, Niels Bohr, Enrico Fermi, James Franck, Otto Frisch, Klaus Fuchs, Rudolf Peierls, Emilio Segre, Leo Szilard, Edward Teller and Eugene Wigner all played crucial roles in getting the weapon designed and built.

Despite the misgivings of many scientists involved with the project, Oppenheimer agreed with arguments in favour of dropping the bomb, unannounced, upon a large civilian population.

President Truman concurred, and on August 6, 1945, the uranium bomb Little Boy slammed Hiroshima with the explosive force of 15,000 tons of TNT. Three days later the plutonium bomb Fat Man devastated Nagasaki.

Worldwide condemnation and debate continues over whether the U.S. should have dropped the bomb. Either way, the fact remains that as a result, 90,000–166,000 people in Hiroshima and 60,000–80,000 in Nagasaki were killed, with roughly half of the deaths in each city occurring on the first day. Of the people who died on the day of the explosion, 60% died from flash or flame burns, 30% from falling debris and 10% from other causes. During the following months, large numbers died from the effect of burns, radiation sickness, and other injuries, compounded by illness.

Advancements of this type of technology continued during the Cold War between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. However, more and more pressure was being placed on those who had nuclear weapons to disarm before they destroyed the world. So, what did the War Mongers do to ensure they still had the upper hand? Simple, they looked for new and creative ways to achieve the same goals.

One idea to maintain the status quo was a strategically clever one, it has to be said. It came from thinking outside the square, which is something politicians have trouble achieving.

On March 23, 1983, President Ronald Reagan proposed the creation of the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI), an ambitious project to construct a space-based antimissile system. This program was immediately dubbed Star Wars.

The SDI was intended to defend the United States from attack from Soviet Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles by intercepting them at various phases of their flight. For such interception to work, the SDI would require extremely advanced technological systems, yet to be researched and developed.

The potential components of the
