WELCOME
The
Parents' Handbook
is a supplement to many of

our Academypublications. It was developed by the Dean of Students Office in cooperationwith the Parent Advisory Committee, and is intended to help you as parentsand guardians of our students to have a better understanding of how theschool works. You can find an online version of The
Parents' Handbook
and
 The E Book
in the Parents gateway of www.exeter.eduBased upon past conversations with parents and suggestions fromour Parent Advisory Committee, we have compiled a list of questions andaimed to provide a clear, concise answer for each. When appropriate, werefer the reader to other Academy publications for information, rather thanrepeating information here. We hope this answers many of your questions, but encourage you to contact us if you ever have any questions about ourpolicies, procedures, support services, etc.Throughout this book we have, for the sake of simplicity, referred toyou as parents of our students, but we do recognize that some students haveguardians and we are always glad to work with those of you who serve in thatcapacity as well. Also on the subject of simpler word choices, a student isoften referred to as "your child" rather than "your son or daughter" - thephrase may sound a bit youthful when referring to a high school student, butafter all, they are, and will always be, your children. Finally, we alternate maleand female pronouns throughout the text.If you think of any topics that you believe should be included in futureissues of this handbook, please let us know by sending a note to the Dean ofStudents Office. We look forward to many conversations with you about yourchildren's education and well-being.
