Definitions Paper Individuals and Families Below Poverty Level1. Individuals and Families Below Poverty Level--Number and Rate by State:2000 and 2005.2. Poverty is the lack (or short coming) of essential necessities including: food,shelter, and clothing, to all of which determine our quality of life. Poverty nevertheless isa term that is used to describe tangible, as well as intangible items; education andemployment is a great example of this. Poverty level is the minimum amount of resourcesneeded to achieve the minimal standard of living in any given country. There are manyfactors that determine a poverty level. When poverty level is being determined, familysize as well as number of children is taken into consideration. In my particular graph, thestatistics are broken down by states (as apposed to countries). Living in poverty is a hugeepidemic in the African American culture. One way to eliminate this is by perhaps,alleviating people from their current circumstances and providing them with moreopportunities to better themselves (i.e. educational opportunity and job prospects).(Magnitude of the Problem)3ai. Individuals living underneath the poverty level is a huge problem; it affectsthousands of people each year. The problem is turning out to be a very sever matter, thatseems to increase at an alarming rate. 3aii. The poverty level affects approximately33,311,000 of the people living in the United States. 3aiii. There is no cost expressed interms of money (on my chart). Definitions Paper deemed to people for several different reasons including: morbidity, mortality,unexpected job loss, or death in the family. 370 million people are unfortunate statisticsof those to whom fall under the “living in poverty” label. About 12.6 percent of these people are statistics for living in the poverty rate.(Scope of the Problem)3bi. The epidemic for individuals living below the poverty level is a hugelywidespread issue. Not only is living underneath the poverty level prevalent in the UnitedStates, it is an ongoing/ reoccurring theme within the universe( it is important to note thatwith different countries comes different poverty thresholds and different poverty levelsi.e. the poverty level in Texas may be 12,000 while the poverty level in Nigeria may be22,500). 3bii. (In my particular graph) The percentage of the population that is effected by the poverty limit are 51 different land. These lands include all 50 states, as well as theDistrict of Columbia.(Changes in the Problem)3ci. Over time, the problem of people living beneath poverty level has increasedimmensely. It is more occurring that the rate of this issue has risen through out the yearsat an ascending order; it keeps increasing and will probably remain to do so through outthe years unless something is done expeditiously. It used to be that the elderly were theindividual who were directly affected by poverty however, in the pass 30 years youngadult have been in the for front.(Disparities in the Problem)3
