Guide for Student Selection
We are thrilled that you will be joining us at Tech Stuff '09,the Helena School District summer tech camp! As you mayknow, among the innovations of our model is that we areasking you to bring a student to Tech Stuff to experiencethe workshops with you in June. Although this model isn'tcompletely new in technology technology training in or outof the Helena District, we have some advice for choosingan ideal student:•Our targeted age is upcoming 4th-12th grade students.•You will be paired with your student for all of theworkshops, which means you should pick a student thatyou are comfortable working with in a variety of trainingopportunities and practical projects.•Our workshops have only one or two project leaders whoare expecting you and your student to have at leastbasic technology skills. If your student doesn't graspfundamentals, the only training available to fill in basicswill be you! There is no bright line on “enough”technology skills, however, you should expect to beexposed to technologies this week that assume youhave at least basic computer or Internet skills.•These workshops will be a variety of formats, includingdemonstration, hands-on, practicum or a hybrid of allthree. You student should be comfortable in payingattention in all three environments. If you have any questions about picking a student, pleasecontact the planning committee! Thanks
