THE PARABLE OF THE BLACK BELT

de I LOVE SHITO RYU, el Sbado, 31 de marzo de 2012 a la(s) 7:59

Once a student of martial arts was kneeling before his master, to perform the ceremony to receive his black belt, which was obtained with much sweat. After many years of relentless training, the student had finally come to what commonlyis said to be the culmination of a martial discipline. "Before you take the belt, you need to pass another test," says Sensei. "I'm ready," responds the student, expecting perhaps one final battle. "You have to answer an essential question: What is the true meaning of black belt?" "The end of my journey," says the student. "A deserved reward for my dedication, recognition of my training." Sensei wait a few minutes, demonstrated that he is not satisfied with the answer. So, Sensei says: "You are not ready to receive the black belt. Come back in a year. " After another year, the student kneels again in front of the Sensei. "What is the true meaning of black belt?". Question Sensei. "It is the symbol of excellence, is the highest level that can be achieved in our art,"says the student. The Sensei is silent, waiting for an addition to the response. Finally, he says."You're still not ready for the black belt. Come back in a year. " A year later the student kneels again in front of the Sensei. And again the sensei asks: "What is the true meaning of black belt." "The black belt represents the beginning, the beginning of a never-ending journey of discipline, work and pursuit of perfection not only technical but also the character," says the student. "Now you are ready to receive the black belt and begin your training." Says the Master.

Naifanchin Kata Sttory

de I LOVE SHITO RYU, el Sbado, 28 de enero de 2012 a la(s) 15:31

There are three Katas Naifanchin: Naifanchin Shodan, Naifanchin Nidan and Naifanchin Sandan. Kata Naifanchin were added to the Shito Ryu style by Master Mabun coming from Master Anko Itosu style (Shuri-Te/Tomari-Te). It is believed that the Master Anko Itosu learned from the Master Sokon Matsumura Kata Naifanchin and this in turn learned from a Chinese man who lived in the city Tomari in Okinawa. There are also doubts about if the three katas is a division or an individual kata, or if Master Anko Itosu created the last two (Nidan and Sandan). Before the creation of the Pinan or Heian kata in the early twentieth century, the style Shuri-te katas Naifanchin was beginning to practice for a long period of time. The meaning of Naifanchin (fighting in their own land or Iron Horse). The meaning of the Japanese terms Shodan (first), Nidan (second), Sandan (third). Master Gichin Funakoshi changed the name of Naifanchin by Tekki (Riding the Iron Horse). Reference: Shito Ryu Karate Asturias of Jose Manuel Mayo Magadan

MASTER KANRYO HIGAONNA

de I LOVE SHITO RYU, el domingo, 22 de enero de 2012 a la(s) 16:16

Kanryo Higaonna was born in Naha city in Okinawa on March 10, 1853. It was the fourth son of Higaonna Kanye (a timber merchant from the islands of Okinawa) and his wife Makado.Since childhood, he showed a great interest in martial arts and was eager to learn everything he could about these arts. At nineteen years of age began to study with the To-Master Aragaki Seisho. When Aragaki moved to China, recommended the Master Higaonna Taipei Kojo (Koshiro 1837 to 1917) of Chinese origin, who continued with their education. When I was 22 or 23 years the political situation was uncertain in Okinawa, Japan wanted to attach the Ryukyu archipelago officially, many young people of the time, immigrated to China, as sympathetic to the culture, arts and Chinese traditions.Among them was Kanryo Higaonna, who was a long period of time in Fukien, a province in southern China, where he continued learning the martial art (the Gongfu), acupuncture, medicine, herbal medicine, culture, and Chinese traditions. Here it is assumed that he began his training with Master Ryu Ryu Ko and Wai Shin Zhan, according to some oral legends to the present day, but these passages are not clear and there is certainly clear who learned the Gongfu Master Higaonna. When he returned to Okinawa in the late 1880s, began to design your own style, fusing their knowledge acquired in China with the To-existing in Okinawa at the time, resulting in a style known as Naha-te. Over time the reputation of Master Higaonna, grows in Okinawa as an expert in the To-, which gives a small group of students who will be the forerunners in the development and expansion of modern karate. These students have Chojun Miyagi (Goju Ryur creator) and official successor of Naha-te line after the death of Higaonna, Juhatsu Kyoda (creator of Toon Ryu), Mabuni (Shito Ryu creator) and Kaki Gusukuma and Seiko Higa. There are different theories about what the Master Kanryo Higaonna kata taught his students Some Naha-te kata were known by older practitioners in the village of Kume Mura. Some of Naha-te kata were added later by the masters Mabuni and Miyagi from other sources. It is known that some kata were added by Master Chojun Miyagi, and then added by Master Mabuni in their repertoire of Naha-te kata are: Geki Sai Dai Ichi Geki Sai Dai Ni and Tensho. The different theories agree that if the four kata that Higaonna taught his students are: Sanchin, Seisan, and Sanseru Pachurin (Suparempei) and other katas, on which, no doubt, are: Seyenchin, SEPA, Shisochin, and Saif Kururunfa . The great master Higaonna Kanryo is considered one of the fathers of modern karate, along with another great master Anko Itosu. The master Kanryo Higaonna died in December 1915, at the age of 62 years in the house of his pupil and successor Chojun Miyagi, who was in charge of their care in the last years of his life. MASTER ANKO ITOSU

de I LOVE SHITO RYU, el viernes, 20 de enero de 2012 a la(s) 18:45

Anko Itosu was born in Shuri (Okinawa) in 1830. Belonging to a family of good position, which gave a very strict education, place it in classical culture and Chinese calligraphy. Also from an early age began his education in Tode, under the tutelage of master Nakahama Chikundon "Peichin." His fame as a fighter is growing rapidly. His study and deepening the art of fighting, led him to train with the most important master at that time, the Master Sokon "Bushi" Matsumura (Shuri Te). Throughout his life, he also treined with other masters, including Gasukuma Shiroma (Tomari-Te). His good friend and training partner Yasutsune Azato, recommended to the secretary or scribe of the last King Sho Tai of Okinawa. The master Anko Itosu was a man of strong physique with broad shoulders, huge arms and wrists as a result of your training with the makiwara. Many consider him the father of modern karate with Master Higaonna Kanryo. Modify and add new kata to the teachings of Shuri-Te, based on existing kata as he Channan Pinans divided into five (or Heian) Naifanchin (or Tekki) in 3 Naifanchin, Passai (or Bassai) left the original form with the name Passai Dai and added Passai Sho, Kosookun (or Kanku) left the original form with the name Kosookun Dai and added Kosookun Sho and structured teaching of Tode, which has greatly inspired in his students later in the twentieth century, developed the karate, first in Japan and then worldwide. The annexation of the kingdom of Ryukyu officially by Japan (Meiji Restoration) in the late nineteenth century, ended in the archipelago with the power of the Satsuma samurai clan and the monarchy of the Ryukyu, Okinawa becoming a province of Japan (1879). What has caused many employees of the monarchy, had to find other jobs to survive, including the master Anko Itosu. He began to teach the Tode first at the University and then introduced the Tode fighting system of public school in Okinawa, helped by masters Chomo Hanashiro and Kentsui Yabu. It is the first teacher to open the Tode to the general public, allowing the knowledge and world development. In 1908 he wrote a letter entitled "Jukun Tode" or "The 10 Precepts of Tode" to draw the attention of Ministers of Education and War in Japan. The letter read: Karate did not develop from Buddhism or Confucianism. In the past schools of Shorin Ryu and Shorei Ryu was brought to Okinawa from China. Both schools have strong points, which I will mention before major changes occur: 1. Karate practiced not only for their own benefit, can be used to protect our family or master. Not intended for use against a single attacker, but as a way to avoid the fight if confronted by a villain or ruffian. 2. The goal of karate is to make the muscles and bones hard as rock, and use your hands and legs as spears. If children begin to train the Tang Te ("Chinese Art" or "Chinese Hand") in primary education would be well prepared for military service.Remember the words attributed to the Duke of Wellington, after defeating Napoleon ". The Battle of Waterloo was won on the playing fields of Eton"

3. Karate can not be learned quickly. Like a bull that moves slowly, eventually, will travel thousands of miles. If one trains diligently every day, in three or four years he knows karate. Those who train in this way discover karate. 4. In karate, training of the hands and feet is important, you have to train hard on the makiwara. To do this, drop your shoulders, open your lungs, concentrate your strength, cling to the ground with their feet and focus your energy in your lower abdomen. Practice using each arm 100-200 times a day. 5. When practicing the positions of Tang Te, be sure to keep your back straight, lower your shoulders, put strength in your legs, stand firmly and put the energy in the lower abdomen. 6. Practice each of the techniques of karate repeatedly, which are transmitted by word of mouth. Learn the explanations and decide when and how to apply them when necessary. Enter, counter, release is the rule of tode -(martial arts style without arms). 7. You must decide if karate practice for your health or to help in your work. 8. When you train, do as you were on the battlefield. Your eyes must shine, your shoulders should download and drive your body. You should always train with intensity and spirit, and so naturally you'll be ready. 9. You should not train at about effort, it will make you lose energy in the lower abdomen and will harm your body. Your face and eyes are red. Train wisely. 10. In the past, teachers of karate have enjoyed long life. Karate helps to develop bones and muscles. Aids digestion and circulation. If karate is introduced in primary schools, then produce men capable of defeating ten assailants each. I also believe that this can be achieved by teaching karate to all Okinawa Teachers College students. So after graduation, will be able to teach in primary schools what they learned. I think this will be of great benefit to our nation and our military. I hope you seriously consider my suggestion. Anko Itosu, October 1908 Students of Master Itosu would be great karate masters in the twentieth century, including Choyu Motobu (1857-1927), Choki Motobu (1870-1944), Kentsui Yabu (1866-1937), Chomo Hanashiro (1869-1945), Funakoshi (1868 -1957), Yabiku Moden (1880-1941), Kanken Toyama (1888-1966), Chotoku Kyan (18701945), Shinpan Shiroma (Gusukuma) (1890-1954), Anbun Tokuda (1886-1945), Kenwa Mabuni (1887 1952), and Choshin Chibana (1885-1969). The Master Anko Itosu died on January 26, 1915 being recognized as a pioneer in the Tode show to the general public, allowing for development around the world and ending the secrecy of the art for centuries. Pinan - Heian History

de I LOVE SHITO RYU, el lunes, 16 de enero de 2012 a la(s) 15:54

Pinan or Heian Katas.

There are five kata:

Pinan Shodan. Pinan Nidan Pinan Sandan. Pinan Yondan. Pinan Godan.

The Pinan katas were incorporated into the Shito Ryu by Master Mabuni founder Kenwa, coming from the master Anko Itosu style (Shuri-Te/Tomari-Te).

The first two katas Pinan Shodan and Pinan Nidan is believed to have been transmitted by Master Matsumura Sokon the Master Anko Itosu with the names of Chanan Chanan Sho and Dai. Anko Itosu adapted them and changed their names. The other three Pinan were created between 1905 and 1907 by master Anko Itosu and helped by two of his students, Kentsui Yabu (1866-1937) and Chomo Hanashiro (1869-1945). Originally they were created to be transmitted to students of schools of Okinawa. By popularizing the teaching and learning karate for a larger group of students, with these kata, a learning system most basic and simple, only to be introduced in a later study of traditional katas more advanced and complicated.

Pinan is the name traditionally used in the language of Okinawa. When the first Masters (Gichin Funakoshi, Mabuni Kenwa and others) decided to expand karate in mainland Japan (Honshu) in the early twentieth century, some have changed the name of the Pinan (Okinawan language) to Heian (Japanese language). Times were hard in the history of Okinawa between 1894 and 1895, has developed a war between

China and Japan (the war in Manchuria), which caused a confrontation between the two countries. Okinawa and its people who were in the middle of these two powers, became involved in the match, Masters Therefore those who were inclined more in favor of Japan, adopted the names in the Japanese language to promote the spread of karate throughout Japan, changing the terms language of origin of Okinawa reminiscent Chinese language.

The meaning of Pinan (in Okinawa: calm mind) and Heian (Japanese: the peace and prosperity of Japan between the years 794 and 1185). The meaning of the Japanese terms Shodan (first level), Nidan (second level), Sandan (third level), Yondan (fourth level) and Godan (fifth level) are the ordinal numbers in Japanese.

These kata were developed by master Anko Itosu of Shuri line you remember and share their techniques and advanced kata, Jion, Koshanku, and Chinto Pass.

At first, I was taught in the current order, which is now known as Pinan Shodan and Pinan Nidan is taught and Pinan Nidan and Pinan Shodan. But seeing the difficulty of learning the Pinan Nidan (current) as the first kata changed the order of teaching.
