In our community we produce lots of wood for houses and firewood. Peoplealso know us for our honey. Our beesare honey bees, and when they leave,we get their honey.Around our area there are wild horses.Sometimes we catch them and thechildren get the horses. The little boysget black ones, the girls get the whiteones, the mommies and daddies getthe brown ones, and the paint coloredones we sell to the Indians.Did you know that bread was inventedin Lakewood? One of our earlycommunity people saw some wheatand they decided to make it intosomething. It was weird and shecalled it bread. They found that itwent good with honey and have eatenit that way ever since because honeyand bread taste GOOD!
LAKEWOOD DAYS
Lakewood days are in the warmdays of spring. They celebrate thecoming of the new flowers. All of thecommunity children get to pick flowersfor their mommies and their grandmasand big sisters. The little boys helpcut the branches for the big fire. There is a big feast that goes on for 3days. The people eat strawberries,bread with honey, and salad.Sometimes if they are lucky, the dad’sgo out to hunt for turkeys or chickens.
