TEXTURE
Definition:
The surfacequality of materials, eitheractual (tactile) or implied(visual). The term is oftenmisused to refer only torough surfaces but this isnot correct. All surfaceshave texture.

Identifying Textures: Answer the exercise given in the photocopy
TACTILE TEXTURE
is the actual 3D feel of a texture. Tactile meanstouch. Painters like Van Gogh can use sand in their pant to get a textureon their painting.
VISUAL TEXTURE
refers to the illusion of the surface's texture. It iswhat tactile texture looks like (on a 2D surface). The textures you seein a photograph are visual textures. No matter how rough objects in thephotograph look, the surface of the photograph is smooth and flat.
