To: Kim Powers <kpowers11@gmail.com>Wordz Spelled with a Z:(Letter people for the new generation)Hello hello good day good day and welcome back to another (DOUBLE) edition of Pop! Goes theCulture - where we also wear our internet hand me downs with style.Oh, silly me. Thinking I could get an issue of Pop! out on time while moving. Why didn't anyone remindme that I have trouble getting a regularly scheduled issue out on time, let alone while I am schleppingmyself across town? Regardless, you lovelies will be receiving a double shot of Pop! today (tonight),and your regularly scheduled issue tomorrow (sometime Friday...orrrr this weekend). SO much Pop! -can you handle it?"Why Kim, how did moving go?" Oh, why thank you so much for asking! Answer: not as painful aspreviously thought, but I still was able to make a list of 100 things I would have rather been doing, such as working at a Sears Portrait Studio or watching a marathon of The Hills. It's large in part to mydad (THANK YOU!), who got to play the grownup and made sure I kept on schedule. If not for him, I'mfearful most of my stuff would have made it over in garbage bags (not unlike the first time I moved outhere). And after only one furniture causality (RIP old dresser - who knew you wouldn't fit into my trunk?(Actually, everyone knew)) and some questionable bruised places (someone explain to me how I havea bruise right below my belly button?) I am officially in a new fabulous apartment, which will hopefullyrejuvenate my pop culture senses. Or at least give me a good story to tell when I inevitably attempt toscale our rock coated wall (umm...okay, maybe that's already been done.)

Unfortunately my other causality during the move was a trip to San Fransisco to see my friend Paul(http://whatthefnet.blogspot.com/), who was up there for work. However, I've used my amazingphotoshop skills to doctor what a photo of us may have looked like last weekend:Paul often times walks around with a shelf door affixed to his back. Oh, and he never leaves homewithout a beer. And with that, let's get started, shall we?

(Jim Carrey is PO'd someone named their band after his 1991 classic)Before I start with the music section, I'd like to give a big thanks to (in my opinion) the coolest PeteBerg there is (Sorry this Pete Berg:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39edGciEBK0). Anywho, Petehas hooked Pop! up with some storage space, so from now on all the Pop! mixes will be hosted there(and none will have to be deleted!) So if you're newish to this e-mail and want to listen to what all thecool kids were listening to months ago, check it out!1) The Botticellishttp://www.myspace.com/thebotticellisEvery two months or so I find my way back to Daytrotter (http://www.daytrotter.com/) to check out whatnew sessions they've recorded, and was tickled pink (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G67qUno5lDo)to listen to the Botticellis, a band I never heard of.Currently residing in San Fran, this group definitely has the sun-drenched California tone down. However, instead of the current 70s/fuzzy looped vibes that have been popular nowadays, TheBotticellis couple their sunshine with great pop hooks. And I'm sure this is the last thing a band wantsto hear these days, but I would love to play their songs on Rock Band - great tight and punchydrumming.2) The High Strunghttp://www.myspace.com/thehighstrungThis is another band that has been around, but I just discovered on the Park the Van Recordssampler (find a whole slew of free indie label samplers here:http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_83998611_3?ie=UTF8&docId=1000353491&pf_rd_m=
