Diabetes Patients are required to check their blood glucose levels multiple times a day. A diabetespatient who knows their blood glucose level has the ability to alter their blood glucose manage-ment strategy if their individual goals are not being met. Regularly checking blood glucose levelsalso help reduce the risk for having long term complications from diabetes. Based on studies of people with type 1 diabetes (Diabetes Control and Complications Trial [DCCT]) and type 2 diabetes(United Kingdom Prevention of Diabetes [UKPDS]), maintaining near normal blood glucose andHbA1c levels significantly reduces the risks of complications arising from diabetes.
Medical technology has made it far simpler for individuals to live withdiabetes. With the help of technologically advanced and compact de-vices, individuals have been able to be discrete about their diabetes andmanage it better.
However, the changing of the blood glucose testerstrip in the blood glucose monitor is a unnecessary step which can bereplaced to make it a more efficient process.
The Process that an Individual has to go through when testing blood glu-cose are outline below1. Take blood glucose tester strip out of bottle2. Insert blood glucose tester strip into blood glucose monitor3. Take Lancet, pierce skin4. Put blood droplet on tester strip5. Dispose of blood glucose tester stripThese 5 steps have to be done 5-6 times daily and the manipulation of the blood glucose tester strip occupies 3 of the 5 steps.

Instead of constantly having to replace the blood glucose tester strip, have an inbuilt set of bloodglucose tester strips. The Roll-A-Strip blood glucose tester cartridge uses the same technology that currently availableblood glucose tester strips use. However, instead of going through the hassle of changing bloodglucose tester strips 5-6 times a day and up to 42 times a week, the Roll-A-Strip cartridge can besimply placed into the blood glucose tester and replaced every week or once the cartridge is over.
