HOW TO EXPLAIN A SENSORY OVERLOADWhere to begin?How does one explain?Using words that come closest to what it isAs words cannot really define itSome things that trigger it you knowOthers remain a mysteryThink I will start with the first of the twoYesThere are two types of sensory overloadFor me at any rateThe first is a 'pleasant' experienceYou feel floatyA bit out thereFeeling a little disorientatedFeels like you are moving out of sink with the rest of the worldWhat you see makes you feel funnyYou are aware things do not feel rightBut no panic comesIt almost feels like you have gone on a trippy rideLike you took too strong a pain medsThe other experience is far from pleasantYou can feel the panicDoing your best to old it together But barely justYou are frozen in this state unable to get outSounds and flashing lights hurtSmells make you feel sick Even eating certain kinds of food can set you off SEVER motion sicknessBeen touched by another can even be an issue.Of the not so nice overloadsThey can happen all at the same timeOr one by oneIt can last a few minutes, hours even daysAnd by the end of it feeling extremely drainedYetWhen either one of these types of sensory overload is happeningI am most times unable to indicate that it isEspeciallyThe more sever the episode isMany just think most of the timeI am a bit spacyOr a little distracted when it happensAnd the ones that are noticed
