TOM BLENKINSOP MP

HOUSE, OF COMMONS LONDON SW1A OAA

Cllr David Mcluckie Redcar and Cleveland House

Kirkleatham Street Redcar TS10 1RT Tuesday 18 June 20L3

Dear David,
I am

writing to you following

jury of your peers finding you guilty of perverting the course of justice

at Newcastle Crown Court todaY.

As I know you are aware, when you were originally arrested for this offence in November, I urged you-for the sake of Skelton residents-to do the right thing and resign as a Redcar & Cleveland

borough councillor.

Whilst under the Local Government Ac|1972, you can only be disqualified from being a member of the council if and when a sentence of imprisonment of "not less than three months" is passed upon you, I believe that your position as a councillor is now-in my opinion-extremely untenable.
Skelton residents have a right to expect the highest standards and the highest levels of integrity from their elected officials. With a jury finding that you committed such a serious offence and a judge warning you that you potentially face imprisonment, you have, I believe, fallen gravely short of these. I am thus repeating my earlier calls for you to resign as a matter of urgency. Yours sincerely,

Tom Blenkinsop MP Labour MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland
