LIBRARY TO HOST APPALACHIAN TRAIL SPEED RECORD HOLDER,JENNIFER PHARR- DAVIS
(SARATOGA SPRINGS) Jennifer Pharr-Davis has hiked over 12,000 miles on longdistance trails. She has trekked on 6 continents and currently holds endurance recordson three separate trails. In 2011, Jennifer became the first female to claim the overallrecord on the Appalachian Trail by finishing the 2,181-mile journey in 46 days, 11hours, and 20 minutes – an astounding average of 46.9 miles per day.Pharr-Davis will present two programs this Saturday, June 22 at the Saratoga SpringsPublic Library – one for children and families, and the other geared toward teens andadults.In the first, titled
Animals & Adventures on the Appalachian Trail
 , Jennifer will sharesome of her silliest and most exciting stories from the trail and talk about some of thefun and unexpected animal encounters she has experienced. She will also bring some of her gear to demonstrate what she takes with her when she goes on a very long hike.The second program,
“Called Again”: Setting the Appalachian Trail Record
will focuson Pharr-Davis’ most recent book of the same title. "Called Again" is Jennifer’s story, inher own words, about how she started this record-breaking journey with a love forhiking and more significantly a love for her husband, Brew.Both programs are free, open to the public and will take place in the H. DutcherCommunity Room. No registration is required. Details are as follows:
