Foreword by new Vice-PrincipalTree Students emerge op Students inSingapore at ‘N’ and ‘O’ Level Examinations
20 January 2009 – a week after therelease of the 2009 ‘O’ Level results anda month after the release of the 2008‘N’ Level results, an air of celebrationstill lingered in Riverside SecondarySchool. Staff and pupils savoured theirice-cream treats as they reminiscedthe school’s elation when the 2008graduating cohort achieved sterlingresults at the national examinations.Kelvin Khong and Amos Tan emergedas the Top Normal Technical Students inSingapore at the ‘N’ Level Examination,both achieving Distinctions in the 6subjects they studied.Nadiah Nadhirah also emerged as theTop Malay Student in Singapore at the‘O’ Level Examination, having scored9 Distinctions, including A1s in threelanguages – English Language, MalayLanguage and Chinese as 3
rd
languageOur twin sisters, Uma Magheswaryand Uma Sangkery, who both scored9 distinctions (including Higher TamilLanguage) celebrated their success instyle with their family who turned up infull force to give them support.All these five students had anotherthing in common. Besides excellingin their academic studies, they werealso outstanding in their Co-CurricularActivities, obtaining A1 for theirperformance, an affirmation of theirability to balance their studies withCCA as well as the school’s success inthe holistic development of the pupils.They were definitely not alone incelebrating their academic success!The 4NA, 4NT, 4E and 5NA cohortsall did the school proud with theirperformances at the 2008 GCE ‘O’ and‘N’ examinations.Riverside Secondary School hasbeen a school of choice in the northof Singapore with its unique traditionof striving for excellence in theholistic development of pupils.
