DALLAS June 20, 2013 Dallas Mayor Michael S. Rawlings and The 50th Committee, of the President John F. Kennedy Commemorative Foundation, announced today the free online ticket request process for The 50th: Honoring the Memory of President John F. Kennedy, a public event taking place at 11:45 a.m. November 22, 2013 at Dealey Plaza. Media credentialing details for the event were also announced. A serious, understated and respectful commemoration in tribute to our nations 35th president, The 50th will honor Kennedys life and legacy of leadership. Paid for by private donations, the public event is led by Mayor Rawlings and the President John F. Kennedy Commemorative Foundation, in cooperation with the City of Dallas. Ticket requests for The 50th can be placed starting at 11 a.m. June 20 and running through July 31 at www.50thHonoringJohnFKennedy.com. All requests will be entered into a highly secure database run by an interactive communications firm, and tickets will be randomly allocated by computer program. Approximately 5,000 tickets will be issued for the event, with a majority distributed to residents of the DFW area. The rest will be issued to people outside the DFW area, as well as to the media, government officials, civic leaders, members of the Foundation and major donors. Video screens in several nearby locations downtown will broadcast the event live for those unable to get tickets. Because of space limitations, only 1 or 2 tickets per person can be requested. Anyone 18 or older can request tickets, and anyone 12 or over can attend the event. It is very important to The 50th Committee and the City of Dallas that this event is free and open to the public, and this ticketing process allows us to do that, said Mayor Rawlings. More than half the tickets will be distributed to residents of the DFW area. But people from all walks of life and viewpoints from around the world will be able to join us in commemorating the life and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. We want to accommodate as many people as possible, but Dealey Plaza has limited space and we need to consider the security and safety of those attending the event, the Mayor said. Were glad to be able to provide video screens nearby for those who dont get tickets but who want to watch the live broadcast downtown. The 50th Committee planning the event and the ticketing is made up of a broad cross- section of 25 civic leaders from the Dallas business and philanthropic communities. The Foundation and its 50th Committee is chaired by Ruth Sharp Altshuler. Along with my colleagues on the Committee, Im pleased to announce a ticketing process that will allow thousands of President John F. Kennedys admirers to help us honor the President and remember what he stood for, Altshuler said. Were grateful for the support weve received from the many private donors who are making this special public event possible. The Mayor and members of the 50th Committee also announced details of media credentialing for The 50th: Honoring the Memory of President John F. Kennedy. The media are invited to cover the event from a press area in Dealey Plaza, which includes a press riser and radio row. However, space limitations may limit the number of credentials issued. Media requests will be screened by the Dallas Police Department. All media credential requests must submitted at www.50thHonoringJohnFKennedy.com by 11:59 a.m. CST on October 31, 2013. Upon approval, a confirmation letter will be emailed, and credentials can be picked up from November 19 through November 21 at a location to be determined near Dealey Plaza. To pick up credentials, media members must present a media I.D. and a driver's license or passport. -MORE-

DALLAS MAYOR AND LEADERSHIP COMMITTEE ANNOUNCE THE 50th MEMORIAL TO JFK

November 22, 2013 at Dealey Plaza in Dallas

DALLAS November 20, 2012 The 50th Committee (President John F. Kennedy Commemorative Foundation), consisting of 25 local civic leaders, in cooperation with the City of Dallas, announced today plans for a serious, understated and respectful public memorial in tribute to our nations 35th president. The 50th: Honoring the Memory of President John F. Kennedy will commemorate Kennedys life and legacy of leadership, taking place at 11:45 a.m. on November 22, 2013 at Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas, where the President was assassinated in 1963. This is an event to honor the remarkable life and legacy of the leadership of President John F. Kennedy, said Mayor Rawlings, Honorary Chairman of The 50th committee. His death forever changed our city, as well as the world. We want to mark this tragic day by remembering a great President with the sense of dignity and history he deserves. The first designated event that the City of Dallas has ever held in Kennedys memory, The 50th will be a concise and reflective observance, starting with the tolling of church bells throughout the city and a moment of silence. Renowned Presidential historian David McCullough, the subject of a recent two-part profile on 60 Minutes, will give special readings from John F. Kennedys Presidential speeches at the event. McCullough has won two Pulitzer Prizes, for John Adams and Truman, and has also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the countrys highest civilian award. President Kennedy a U.S. Navy veteran will be honored in song by the internationallyacclaimed, 73-member U.S. Naval Academy Mens Glee Club, under the direction of Dr. Aaron Smith. Religious leaders will offer prayers and a benediction. A ceremonial flyover will also take place. The 50th: Honoring the Memory of President John F. Kennedy will be free and open to the public, with tickets distributed through a secure, online ticket request process that can be found at www.50thHonoringJohnFKennedy.com. Video screens will be placed in strategic locations around downtown Dallas to ensure everyone can take part in the memorial. The event is being paid for by private donations raised by individuals and foundations.

The 25-person committee organizing The 50th is made up of a broad cross-section of leaders from the Dallas business and philanthropic communities. Its important that the direction for this event was generated by citizens of Dallas, and not by any one person or City Hall, so I chose members who were symbolic of the whole community from a diversity standpoint and a thinking standpoint, Mayor Rawlings said. I chose members that represented Dallas and its leadership, and also members who were actually here 50 years ago, some of them on the streets, others who were at the Trade Mart, like committee Chairwoman Ruth Collins Altshuler, the Mayor added. A longtime Dallas philanthropist and civic leader, Altshuler created the program for the memorial and invited McCullough to remember Kennedy with a special reading of President Kennedys speeches. Were honored to have a historian of David McCulloughs stature speak on this historic occasion, said Altshuler. As the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of several Presidential biographies, hes uniquely qualified to speak about the lasting legacy of our 35th commander in chief. In addition to Chairman Ruth Altshuler and Honorary Chairman Mayor Rawlings, the committee is made up of Lindalyn Bennett Adams, The Honorable Lew Blackburn, Adelfa Callejo, Linda Pitts Custard, Most Reverend Kevin J. Farrell, Nancy Strauss Halbreich, Reverend Zan W. Holmes, Jr., The Honorable Clay Lewis Jenkins, The Honorable Ron Kirk, Bobby B. Lyle, The Honorable Anita N. Martinez, Linda B. McFarland, Cappy R. McGarr, Ken Menges, Blaine L. Nelson, Erle Nye, Rick Ortiz, Margot Perot, The Honorable Jeanne L. Phillips, Caren Prothro, Deedie Potter Rose, Terdema L. Ussery II and The Honorable Royce West. This is a part of our history. The story of Dallas growth and success can only be understood in the context of this unspeakable tragedy, said Mayor Rawlings. Its important that the city of Dallas has a strong voice in remembering this very solemn day and honoring a great President who was a hero to so many people around the world. ### The 50th: Honoring the Memory of President John F.
