5.3 Final Evaluation
Taking away from the final critique and the panelists' comments, it is apparentlynecessary to clarify some of the finer points of the ProZeuxis thesis project. One of thesesticking points that continually seemed to come up was to better define a target audiencefor this type of project. The target audience that this thesis would be aimed at would be a two-fold body of individuals. First, would be the group that this software would be geared to entertain. Theset of test visuals that I would develop for this prototype system would not be tailored toany particular age group or gender. I plan to keep the visual choices neutral in a sense thatthey would be both engaging and also suitable for all ages. The second target group would be other performance artists and VJ's who would beinterested in using this software system for their own purposes. The system's presentationwill include a demonstration component that shows the unique features or the systemthrough a sample of its usage. The purpose of this demonstration portion will also fulfillthe requirement of correlating the skills that I have learned at CADA, (tracking, channelops, mattes, visual scripting, file formats, etc), and show how they have been applied tothe prototype system that I have created.Another of the concerns mentioned during the panel review was my choice of musicin terms of song selection, genre, etc. I have been somewhat set on using a compositionarranged by my friend for the final demonstration. A portion of this musical selection wasused in my preViz mock-up video. The genre is trance fusion which is commonly known forits mixture of electronica, trance, rock, and jazz musical styles played using both pre-sequenced loops and live instrumentation.I am pretty confident in this endeavor that I will be able to have enough of thedevelopment work completed in order to give film a sample performance with the systemin operation. Having this said, one of the major concerns with my preViz presentation wasnot having enough example frames of what the test performance visuals will look like. Myfear was that I would get locked into one or another style and look of visuals and have mythesis judged solely on this end result rather than the entire evolution of the larger body of work involved. I can adapt to this requirement and provide some concrete style frames of visual nodes and their intended look and feel in addition to the video presentation shown atpreViz. These frames will provide a direct objective to this first round of developing thevisual node collection, and will show the intended audience the full potential of thesystem.
