We hope you'll enjoy this excerpt from Rob's St. Martin's Release.

From Publishers Weekly, Starred Review:

"Browne (Kiss Her Goodbye) shows tremendous promise in this sophomore effort, a taut psychological thriller with hints of the supernatural and an ending that will leave readers speechless.

A young woman found naked and covered in someone else's blood tries to attack Special Victims Det. Frank Blackburn. He links her to a nearby murder done in the style of the Vincent Van Gogh serial killer. The Van Gogh killer's most recent victim was Abby Tolan, wife of renowned psychiatrist Dr. Michael Tolan.

As Tolan, who works with Blackburn, tries to help the young woman recover her memory, she reveals things only Abby would know and begins a startling physical transformation into his dead wife. The deeply satisfying story moves at a furious pace, packed with unexpected and original clues and plot twists."

Although crime is my favourite genre, not many crime books score top marks from me, but RGB deserves every one of those stars. Hooked from the start, Browne kept reeling me in, never letting go and keeping me guessing until the very end. There is a slight supernatural edge which may not be to everyone's liking, but it doesn't take over the story and just adds that little spooky something to an already sinister story. This is by no means a literary masterpiece, but a brilliantly-told story with a well thought-out plot and believable characters. I will without a doubt be buying the rest of his books.

This book had a lot of potential, but fell flat for me. I did not like the "paranormal" aspect, it made the story totally unbelievable. I knew who the killer was the first time they were introduced. The author also used very cliched phrasing.

Greetings, interesting. I'm too radiant to notice the dark ages.
