 –
they
re 3-11 since June 8
 –
no team in theCarolina League has been worse than the 22-51 Mudcats, who started the second half  by getting swept at Potomac. Tonight, Carolina starts all-star Cody Anderson, whoranks second in the league in ERA, against Zach Davies. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
Coverage of today’s game
starts at 6:45 p.m. on 1450 AM The Source andwthu.org.
KEYS STARTER: RHP Zach Davies (4-3, 3.63)

Won his only start of the season at Carolina, despite it being one of his worst.Davies allowed a season-high five earned runs on seven hits and two walks in5.2 innings to the Mudcats on May 5, a game the Keys won 6-5.

Road starts have proven troublesome for Davies this year, going 2-3 with a 4.95ERA away from home. Batters are hitting .287 against Davies in road starts.

A rare high school pick that began his pro career in full-season baseball. Signednear deadline in 2011 and did not pitch till 2012. In first full season led Class-ADelmarva in strikeouts (114) and finished tied for the team lead in innings pitched (114.1). Also was 10th in the South Atlantic League in ERA (3.86).

Was committed to play for Arizona State, but opted to sign with the Orioles after  being drafted in the 26th round in 2011.

Allowed three runs in six innings and received a no-decision on April 27 in hisonly start against the Keys this season. Since that game, Anderson is 3-3, has aK/9 rate of 9.7, an ERA of 2.85 and a .246 batting average against.

Went 4-7 with a 3.40 ERA for Class-A Lake County in 2012, making 23 startsand one relief appearance.

Drafted by the Indians in the 14th round in 2011 out of Feather River JC (Calif.),after turning down the Rays in 2010, who drafted him in the 17th round. TheIndians signed Anderson, who was committed to play for TCU, for $250,000.
KEYNOTES:

FROM NO. 1 TO NO. 2
: The Keys faced the Carolina League
s ERA leader Sundaynight and get the pleasure of facing the man with second-best ERA today. Frederick raised Luke Jackson
s ERA from 2.14 to 2.56 yesterday, scoring four runs on MyrtleBeach
s ace, but lost the game. Tonight, Cody Anderson and his 2.63 ERA take onthe scuffling Keys, who despite their 2-4 record in the last six games are averagingnearly eight runs a game.
DIFFERENT STROKES
: The Keys and Mudcats apparently have differentoffensive philosophies, or at least that
s what the numbers would suggest. Carolinaleads the league in batting average at .270 but have hit a league-low 32 homers. TheKeys lead the league with 69 homers but are batting .247, third-worst in the league.Frederick has scored the third most runs (348) and Carolina the second fewest (310).
GONE FISHIN
: The Keys must be happy to visit the Mudcats this week, after going 5-1 against the fish in the first half. Frederick swept Carolina in Zebulon inearl Ma.
