Blended Learning Strategies ePortfolio

Overall Strategy and Dimensions


Strategy: Students are provided with an ePortfolio platform which they build on throughout all three years of their degree.

Students decide who has access to the portfolio fellow students, lecturers other than those teaching the course & local SPF who require access, and the general public (e.g. potential employees). Students decide if they wish to receive feedback and from whom. Face to face feedback between learner and teacher is shared.

Assessment

Students are orientated to the ePortfolio initially in Intensive and then in SPF time. Course outlines guide the components required for each course, which are structured under the titles: Lifelong Learning Practice Based Records Practice Skills Inventory Student Practice Assessment Forms & Cue Sheets Course outlines are loaded to the ePortfolio for easy reference (for students & midwives).

Logs pertaining to Follow Through women are submitted electronically for marking. Timesheets/shift logs can be signed off by preceptor midwives electronically, or using paper copy and uploaded. Reflections are submitted electronically using audio, video or written formats. VAMPS (Video Assessment of Midwifery Practise Skills) are loaded for assessment to the portfolio. Practice skills sheets are uploaded/signed electronically. Learning contracts are completed electronically.

At pre-determined assessment times the portfolios are assessed electronically by the teacher this could include feedback written, audio or video format. Face to face feedback is shared. MCNZ (Midwifery Council NZ) student progress forms are completed electronically by the student and teacher.

PBA (Practice Based Assessments) are completed electronically/uploaded. Attendance at study days etc are recorded/ certificates uploaded.
