These arrests stem from a collaborative investigation between the Sheriffs Office and the Department of Social Services. The County Executive and the Sheriff are committed to cracking down on fraud and preserving the benefit programs for the families that desperately need it. Sheriff Apple stated he will continue to allocate resources to seek out subjects defrauding the Department of Social Services. Without the diligent investigation of the staff at the Albany County Department of Social Services, these arrests would not be possible, said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. The intense examination given to cases of suspected fraud is a priority of our social services investigators.
