“Storytelling 2.0″
What is it?
Storytelling 2.0, voicethreads, audioblogs, digital stories, etc, is a methodwhere people publish pictures or photographs, create a form of animated slideshow withthem, and get to reflect upon them in a narration that goes along with the presentation.
How is Digital Storytelling useful in education?The question is, how is it NOTuseful.There are myriads of possibilities.
Digital Storytelling, voicethreads, or audio blogs are a GREAT educational tool thatintegrates many 21st century skills:
Performing searches in the computer (ex: for pictures)
 
Saving, creating folders for pictures and files
 
Writing reflections upon a photograph, or picture
 
Reading out their reflections
 
Recording the readings on microphone
 
Saving the file on the computer, then opening and inserting it again
 
Self- evaluating the worth of their work in rubrics prior to publishing

 This moving tribute to family, traditions and culture is a project by Joe McHugh in whichyou will find audio logs, pictures, and stories of families going through the good and the bad.Great idea for you to create your own in class!The BBC-Wales offers several digital stories where musicians, news reporters,community workers, and everyday people narrate their experiences.This helpful for students to understand how a good narrative is produced both orally and in writing.Far from just a blog, this incredible project portrays the stories of 7 teenegagers. What dothey have in common? They are all war refugees from different zones.Think aboutasking your students to reflect and write a critical analysis on what they saw, then explaintheir own realities the way it is done on the site.Bubble share is a photo sharing application similar to FLICKR. and Photobucket,however, it seems to be a bit more filtered for student needs. That way, every picture youask the students to research will not come back with a “double entendre.”
