CSS can be annoying

I’ve been using CSS for years now, and I still find some things about it to be tedious and hard. Like why do some browsers only support link colors if you do them in the “right” order (link, visited, hover, then active)? Granted this is a browser quirk, but I’m only reminded of it when I’m working with CSS.

Some things that annoy my readers include:

“I spend all my time fighting to get very simple things done, such as aligning and centering different elements - which should be instant and easy.” - Geoff Kendall

“One of my chief beefs about CSS, is the ability to get the “footer” to sit at the bottom of the page, when the main content, or one column is short.” - JGerrond

“Simply creating a simple box in CSS can be a chore. Figure out demensions and styles, save, back to HTML, take a look - nope, back again.” - joyful128

“I fail to understand the logic of using a command language that you must know intimately before even beginning to start to see what it can do.” - ska.ccc
