While specific numbers may be disputed, most sources agree that Islam is the fastest growing religion in theUnited States, in France, and worldwide.
Growth rates and future projections are based on combinations of currentMuslim population counts, fertility and religious conversion rates, and immigration data. These projections aresometimes labeled as  scenariosimplying a high degree of imprecision and dependence upon initialassumptions. The current global Muslim population of around 20% is likely to rise, by the most conservativeestimates, to about 24-25% of the world s total by the year 2025. Other sources — many of them Muslim — predictfuture percentages closer to 30%, which would have Islam surpass Christianity as the most populous faithcommunity worldwide. As with population counts, these reported growth rates are likely to be influenced by religiousand political agendas. The factors related to Muslim population growth vary over time and changing circumstances. that birth rates among Muslim women, particularly recent immigrants, tend to be higher than average levels inWestern nations. However, these rates tend to fall, particularly as immigrant groups become established andincomes rise. Immigration policies and patterns have also changed, particularly since September 11, 2001. Thisvariability makes past national growth rates only an imprecise guide to future growth of Muslim populations. Somehave chosen the number of mosques as a key indicator of the rise of Islam in Western countries. Though this is ahelpful guide, many note that the sites counted are often small and informal prayer rooms, in basements and other places, rather than full and formal religious institutions. The concerns related to the growth of Muslim populations differ from country to country. In France, a crucial factor isthe concentration of Muslim populations in urban areas, where predictions are that as much as one-third of the nextgeneration will be Muslim and some have warned of the formation of “ethnic ghettoes.” An important question for many in the American political scene is the relative size and rate of growth in Muslim and Jewish populations. The twogroups make competing claims, and while it is likely that they are quite close in population, the Muslim communitymay now be slightly larger. Info-Graphic: Muslim Populations Worldwide Growth

Saul Wall Says:
Projecting out to the year 2025 ignores the trend of declining fertility rates in Muslim nations which arehigh (not as high as Christian and animist populationsin sub-Sahara) but falling faster than those of industrial nations did. Moreover, some Western nations have seen fertility rates among non-Muslims,specifically non immigrants, expand since this article was written.

wishfulthinking Says:
Whenever anyone talks about population its always wishful thinking. Some are in denial and tellthemselves Islam is in decline. Some who are muslimtell themselves Islam issoon to be the worldslargest and most powerful religion. I am going to convert to islam myself (I am a white englishman)but I really dont care about your stupid demographicsand I think its lame that poeple spend their time ranting and ravingabout how islam is trying to take over teh world ot christianity is going to destroy islam. In england, muslims are no problem, the problem is with the lack of christianity which has leadto a break down in society and teen pregnancies andmass alcohol consumption etc etc hence why Iam going for an laternative and Im only 21 so inshallah I will have 10 babies just to bump up the birthrate of muslims if taht will make you happy???
