SWOT of a regional network / case NSCN

(1/2)

Strengths
strengthening sustainability, internal and external wider impact by initiating sustainability to NUAS, The Nordic Association of University Administrators peer-to-peer communication made easier capacity-building, sharing practices similarities in (Nordic) societies distances (saves time, environment and $)

Opportunities
finding partners for joint projects student and staff exchange creating an umbrella for political Nordic collaboration (Nordic council of ministers, national ministries) shared methods, materials, campaigns

ISCN conference @ NUS June 2013, Meri.Loyttyniemi@aalto.fi

SWOT of a regional network / case NSCN

(2/2)

Weaknesses
is target group too wide; focus only on ESD OR green campus? too few joint projects too few persons at each university limited resources

Threats
continuation, endurance organizational changes too narrow focus confusion or synergy - is there too many networks?

How NSCN got started?

Idea of NSCN was created during Nordic Climate Festival @ Aalto when 90 students from all Nordic countries, gathered for 4 days in Helsinki and Espoo
150 students applied and submitted posters, 7 theme tracks, one of them sustainable universities main events during the Finnish presidency 2011 of Nordic Council of Ministers opening and closing sessions + Climate Fair open for general public publication: Roadmap to sustainable future

The name of the network was inspired by ISCN, NSCN identified as a local Scandinavian chapter.
