Pentateuch 11/25/2013 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM Room: 327 - Convention Center Theme: Convergence and Divergence in Pentateuchal Theory The past forty years of scholarship on the Pentateuch have witnessed not only a proliferation of intellectual models but also the fragmentation of discourse as scholarly communities in the three main research centers of Israel, Europe, and North America increasingly talk past one another. In effect, three independent scholarly discourses have emerged. Each centers on the Pentateuch, each operates with its own set of working assumptions, and each is confident of its own claims. This panel, originating from a yearlong research group at the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, seeks to establish a set of shared assumptions and a common discourse for the future study of the Pentateuch.
