I recently spoke with your client, Mr. Wainwright, about any feelings he might have regarding the concept of a Loudon Wainwright III biography. Although prior to this discussion I had ascertained from research that nothing of the sort had yet been published, I nonetheless was surprised to learn from Mr. Wainwright that no one had previously made to him the offer or expressed the interest. Not at all averse to my proposal to be that individual, Mr. Wainwright seconded the course of action I suggested, namely: write to his management agency setting forth the matter; write to his current record label with the purpose of obtaining a grant to get the project off the ground. I am a graduate English student taking a year off from the rigmarole of academic life before returning to complete my doctoral program. In the meantime I decided to begin work on a project I have long reserved for the right time--a project I have long adjudged worthy, necessary, even humanitarian. Obviously, this would be the writing of Mr. Wainwrights biography. Moreso than any reporter or professional biographer who might take on the job, the skills and dedication I would bring to the project ensure the creativity, thoughtfulness and insight of what must be an intricately crafted window into the world of this great cultural critic, psychologist, verbal/musical artist. The depth of commitment and dedication I can bring to this project is that which only a labor of love can sound--for as a writer of fictions, a trained academic writer and researcher, and a long-time listener to Loudon Wainwrights music, I am wellLoudon Wainwright III
