Cherished Hearts with Stampin’ Up!Creating Your Own Background This is a really neat technique to make your own backgroundsthat doesn’t take a lot of time to do. It only requires a few toolsand some ink and you can create all kinds of differentbackgrounds.Materials Needed:
•
You need an embossingfolder or texturz plate, I usedone from the Stampin’ Up!Collection,
•
A rubber brayer
•
ink pad (color of choice),
•
a piece of white card stock (Icut mine at 5x8 so that itcovered the entire plate. Your size will depend on the size of the embossing folder orplate you chose)
•
Die cut machine (I used the Big Shot)
 
1.First, create your sandwichaccording to the specifications of your machine. For the Big Shot,place the multipurpose platformdown with tab one fed through themachine, then the texture plate, thewhite cardstock, a silicone rubbermat, the impressions pad and if youwant a deeper impression you can add a piece of cardstock.

Carefully feed the sandwichthrough the machine. If youadded a piece of cardstock, itrequires a little bit more effortto get the sandwich throughthe machine. Once you arefinished you get a niceembossed design. Theembossed side is the one with the raised design on thepaper. For the purpose of this technique we are going toused the back side or the negativeside of the embossed image.
 
3.Ink up your rubber brayer in the inkcolor of choice. Roll the brayeracross the ink pad then lift thebrayer off the pad, return to thestarting point and run the brayeracross the pad again. This ensuresthat the entire brayer is inked asoppose to just rolling the brayerback and forth.4.Roll the brayer across the designin one direction (just like wheninking). This will prevent linesshowing up when running thebrayer across the paper. Don’tpress down into the paperbecause we want the brayer toskim the upper layer of paper.
5.
 Trim as desired. For this sample, I left it plain so you can seethe background better but you can embellish as desired. This would also be neat as a background to a photo mat or
