The comparative study
The title of Comparative study is “Comparative Analysis of Learner Satisfaction andLearner Outcomes in Online and Face –to- Face Learning Environment” and the typeof the it is Learners perception and performance study. Authors of the study areSCOTT D. JOHNSON, STEVEN R. ARAGON, NAJMUDDIN SHAIK,AND NILDA PALMA-RIVAS from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Purpose of the evaluation:
The purpose of this study is to compare an online course with an equivalent coursetaught in a traditional face-to-face format.
Questions of the study:
the questions of this study are:
1.
What differences exist in satisfaction with the learning experience of studentsenrolled in online versus face-to-face learning environments?
2.
What differences exist in student perceptions of student/instructor interaction, course structure, and course support between students enrolled in online versusface-to-face learning environments?
3.
What differences exist in the learning outcomes (i.e., perceived contentknowledge, quality of course projects, and final course grades) of studentsenrolled in online versus face-to-face learning environments?
The instruments:
The researchers used in this study these instruments:

1.
(ICES):

university’s
 Instructor and Course Evaluation System
was

used toobtain general student perceptions of the quality of their learning experience.
2.
(DOLES) Distance and Open Learning Scale and the (DDE) Dimensions of Distance Education instruments were identified as appropriate starting pointsfor the creation of an assessment tool for online instruction.
3.
CISS Course Interaction, Structure, and Support was used to establish theconstruct validity of the hybrid instrument.
Participant of studies:
This study compared outcome data obtained from students enrolled in one of twoversions of a
 graduate level instructional design course
for human resourcedevelopment professionals. One version of the course was taught on the campus of a large Midwestern university through a traditional face-to-face format while theother version of the same course was offered totally online, with no direct face-to-face contact between the instructor and the students. This was applied for
19
students who enrolled in the online version of the course and
19
students, mostof whom are pursuing a graduate degree in Human Resource Development(HRD), who enrolled in the on-campus course.
Advantages & limitations of the study:The advantage is:
Illustrate the findings by the tables of statistics.
The limitation is:
do not provide the enough information about participant.
