TODAY’S FOCUS –
 Fifth Sunday of  Easter:

Our society has inherited aphilosophy of rugged individualism thatstands in stark contrast to the message of Jesus. Our culture tells us to go it alone.Jesus invites us to be one in him andwith each other. We are not to live apartfrom each other or from our source of life--Jesus--who unites us with theFather and gives us the Holy Spirit.

(The Prodigal Son)Where was the mother of theprodigal sonOn that day so long ago? What were her fearsAs she watched him turn to go?How many times in the dark of nightDid the tears slide down her face?Did she get out of bedAnd fall on her knees,Just to pray that her boy was safe? How were the days whenShe did not knowWas he alive? Was he warm? Was he well? Who were his friends? And where did he sleep? Was there anyone thereshe could tell? But oh, on that dayWhen she looked down the roadAs she had looked sinceHer son went away.Did love unspeakable flood her soul?Did she cry? What did she say?I think when the fatherHad welcomed their sonAnd the boy and greeted his brother,That the servants made a pathFor him to enter the doorAnd the waiting arms of his mother.
This poem is dedicated to all the mothers who have lost wayward  children. Don’t lose your faith in God who can bring them back to the fold.

HAPPYMOTHER’S DAY

REFLECTIONS ON LIFE
Motherhood never comes withoutsacrifice, as Pam’s story illustrates. Shebecame pregnant while she and herhusband were missionaries in thePhilippines, and then she contractedamoebic dysentery there. Gravely ill,she was treated with strong antibioticsbefore anyone knew she was pregnant.Doctors predicted devastatingdisabilities and urged her to abort herunborn child. She refused, endurednumerous difficulties before givingbirth to a healthy child whom shepromised God would become apreacher. Not only did her son, TimTebow, fulfill that promise but went onto become the youngest college footballplayer ever to win the Heisman Trophy.
