We want your experience with the Lascal m1 Carrier to be as rewarding as possible. For this reason, we have prepared these instructions to help you get the most out of your Lascal m1 Carrier. Please take a few minutes to read them carefully, as they contain important information for proper use, washing instructions and a brief list of warnings that need to be followed to maximize your baby's safety.

• Sit down when putting in and taking out your baby. When using the Lascal I'Tl1 Carrier the first few times, limit the use to 15-20 minutes at a time, until both baby and you are comfortable using the carrier.

• To minimize the stress on your back, always wear the I'Tl1 Carrier high up on your chest. If you can kiss the top of your baby's head by just looking down, then the I'Tl1 Carrier is in the correct position.

• To nurse in private, find a comfortable place to sit, loosen up all straps and slide one shoulder strap off your shoulder while supporting the baby with your hands at all times. Unsnap and fold up the Top Cover for extra privacy if desired. Be sure all straps are back on and securely tightened before standing up.

• When your baby has outgrown the I'Tl1 Carrier, and before storing it, adjust the seat height (page 15) to the highest possible position, so you are prepared for the next infant to use your I'Tl1 Carrier.

• Store these instructions with the I'Tl1 Carrier for future reference .

Begin using your new Lascal ITl1 Carrier by completing the following steps:

1. Put the Harness Straps on like a jacket. The gray Head Support Release Buttons should be on your chest (figure 1 a).

2. Insert the Front Connector Clip into the Front Connector (figure 2). The Clip will "click" when they lock into place.

3. Adjust the Waist Straps until they fit snugly (figure 3) .

4. Adjust the Shoulder Straps by pulling them downward until they fit snugly (figure 4).

5. Adjust the Lumbar Support so it is positioned over your lower back by pulling down on the base of the Lumbar Support (figure 5).

6. Now you are ready to put in baby:

1 . After following The Basics, pages 7-8:

2. Open up the Front Connector Clip Piece (figure 6a)

The Front Connector has a back up safety catch that will only release when tilting the Front Connector Clip down (figure 6b) as it is being removed.

3. Put the Front Piece on a firm surface, or while sitting with it in your lap, place your infant on the Front Piece with the feet towards you (figure 7). Make sure the legs straddle the Front Piece similar to putting on a diaper.

4. Attach Leg Straps to the Leg Strap Buttons on both sides (figure 8).

:tj- The Leg Straps have two holes for securing different size legs. Use the appropriate hole depending on the size of your baby's legs.

x2 5. With baby still lying down on the Front Piece,

move yourself into position and insert the Front Connector Clip into the Front Connector Buckle (figure 9), securing the Front Piece to the bottom of the Harness Straps.

6. Lift up the Front Piece with the baby while holding your baby closely, and attach the Side Clasps one at a time. There will be an audible "click" when the Side Clasp locks into place (figure 10).

7. Place your thumb underneath the Head Support Button and two fingers (index and middle) on the Head Support Buckle. Attach the buckle and button by squeezing your fingers and thumb together (figure 11). You will hear two "clicks" indicating the Head Support Buckle has been connected securely.

Also, make sure baby's arms are through the arm holes.

8. For help "fine tuning" your m1 Carrier please refer to Carrier Adjustments, pages 13-15.

IMPORTANT!

While maintaining one hand on the baby, test that all buckles are securely attached.

While facing in, no more than half of the baby's head should be visible above the Top Cover. If you can kiss the top of your baby's head by just looking down, then the rTTl Carrier is in the correct position.

1. After following The Basics, pages 7-8:

2. Choose one side of the carrier and attach the Side Clasp. The Side Clasp should lock into place with an audible "click" (figure 12).

If you are right handed, attach the left side of the carrier; if you are left handed, attach the right side of the carrier.

3. Attach the Head Support Buckle on the same side listening for the TWO audible "clicks" when locking into place (figure 13).

4. With the baby facing you, place him into the open side of the m1 Carrier, supporting the baby and the carrier with your opposite arm. Secure the second Side Clasp, listening for an audible "click" (figure 14). Hold your baby closely until both Side Clasps are fully attached. Make sure your baby's legs are straddling the seat.

:tt Sometimes it may be easier to get your baby into the carrier if you place one hand through the leg opening, and guide your baby into the carrier. Hold your baby closely until the carrier is fully attached.

5. While maintaining one hand on the baby, buckle the Head Support Buckle by placing your thumb underneath the Head Support Button and two fingers (index and middle) on the Head Support Buckle. Attach the buckle and button by squeezing your fingers and thumb together (figure 15) listening for TWO audible clicks.

Also, make sure baby's arms are through the arm holes.

6. For help "fine tuning" your m1 Carrier, please refer to Carrier Adjustments, pages 13-15.

o When can I use the facing forward position?

Babies are usually ready for the facing forward position at about five to six months of age when they can sit upright, and support their head and shoulders.

1. After following steps 1-4, pages 11-12, place your baby in the carrier according to step 4 on page 12, but with your baby facing out.

2. Fold the Head Support down (figure 16), and attach the Head Support Buckles while listening for the TWO audible "clicks" on each side (figure 17). Baby's chin should be level with the folded down Top Cover. If higher, lower the seat according to the instructions on page 15.

3. For help "fine tuning" your m1 Carrier, please refer to Carrier Adjustments, pages 14-16.

IMPORTANT!

While maintaining a hand on the baby, test that all buckles are securely attached.

If you can kiss the top of your baby's head by just looking down, then the m1 Carrier is in the correct position.

Adjusting the Straps

While lifting up on your baby's bottom, make a nal adjustment by pulling forward on the Shoulder Straps (figure 18a) and Waist Straps one at a time (figure 18b), until the baby is high on your chest and close to your body.

For best comfort, wear the Lumbar Support low over the lower back

For a cleaner look, tuck away any extra length of strap using the Strap Clips.

Head Support Adjustments.

The Top Cover unsnaps for easy access to the Head Support Straps.

To snug up the Head Support:

Pull outwards on the Head Support Straps located under the Top Cover until the head is well cradled (figure 19). You can tuck excess Head Support Strap under the Top Cover for a cleaner look.

To loosen the Head Support:

Lift the plastic tab on the Head Support Buckle and push outward.

Body Size Adjustments

To snug up the mid section:

Pull outward on the Size Adjustment Straps (figure 20).

To loosen the mid section:

Lift up on the Size Adjustment Strap Buckles.

Sun and Wind Protection

The front of the Top Cover can fold up for intermittent sun and wind protection (figure 21).

regular sun protection and it is not recommended to expose babies less than six months to any direct sunlight.

Seat Height Adjustments

For overall safety of your baby, and to reduce lower back strain, the m1 Carrier and baby should be worn as high on the chest as possible, according to the following guidelines:

Facing you: No more than half of the baby's head should be above the Top Cover.

Facing forward: Baby's chin should be just above the folded down Top Cover.

To raise the seat height:

WITH BABY OUT OF CARRIER, pull down on the Seat Adjustment Strap (figure 22) while lifting on the hidden Seat Adjustment Release marked by the colored stitching on the Front Piece (figure 23).

To lower the seat height for a taller baby: WITH BABY OUT OF CARRIER, lift up on the hidden Seat Adjustment Release Buckle (figure 23) marked by the colored stitching on the Front Piece of the carrier, and with your other hand, push down and out on the inside of the seat of the carrier until it is at the desired height (figure 24).

1. While sitting down and supporting the baby, release some tension on the Harness Straps by reaching back and pressing on the four Strap Buckles with your thumbs.

Place your thumb underneath the straps behind the Head Support Release Buttons and release both Head Support Buckles by pressing down on the gray buttons with your index and middle fingers (figure 25).

2. While holding baby, release the Side Clasps on each side by squeezing with your thumbs and lifting the Side Clasp up and out (figure 26).

3. Lay the baby down, along with Front Piece, onto a firm surface or on your lap (figure 27).

4. Release both Front Connector Clip from the Front Connector by pressing on the clip with your thumb while tilting downward to bypass the safety catch (figure 28).

5. The baby and the Front Piece are now released from the Harness Straps. Unbutton the Leg Straps and remove the baby from the Front Piece (figure 29).

1. Release some tension on the Harness Straps by reaching back and pressing on the four Strap Buckles with your thumbs. While supporting the baby, release the Head Support Buckle on one side (figure 30).

2. On the same side, release the Side Clasp by squeezing with your thumb and lifting the Side Clasp up and out (figure 31).

If you are right handed, leave the left side of the carrier attached. Leave the right side attached if you are left handed.

3. Lift the baby out of the carrier. When the baby is out of the carrier and secure, remove the carrier by releasing the Front Connector Clip.

Now you can remove the carrier. It is ready and adjusted for use the next time you want to wear your baby!
