Lyon County is one of the 105 counties in the state of Kansas. The 2007 populationsestimate lists the population to be 35,981. According to 2000 estimates, it has 850.87square miles in land area and a population density of 42.2 people per square mile. Theaverage household size is 2.51 persons (2000) and median household income is$34,377 (2004) (US census Bureau).

Lyon County has a population of 35,981 as of July 1, 2007 (US Census Bureau). Thepopulation increased by 0.13% from the year 2000 to 2007. As per the 2000 censussurvey, population of the county was 35,935 with median age of 30.9 years. In 2000,Lyon County had twenty-one percent of its population under the age of 15 years, 33.7%in the age group 15 to 34 years, 30.4% in the age group 35 years to 59 years and14.8% of the population above 60 years of age.
