STRESS QUESTIONS

Some questions will surprise you.

The questions will possibly make you feel uncomfortable during an interview.

Such questions may directly challenge an opinion that you have just stated.
These may induce you to say something negative about you. Always induct your strengths to the answer. Think of the following questions like:

Which do you prefer, fruits or vegetables?"

"Which do you like better, Lions or Tigers?" How can you do a job without experience?

READING COMPREHENSION Improving Reading Speed. Approaches to Reading Comprehension

P-Q: Passage first and then approach the questions.

Q-P-Q: Questions first and then read the passage, underline part of the passage where an answer to the questions read may be found. QP-QP-QP: Take a question one at a time and search its answer in the passage. One-third P-Q-P: Read around one-third of the passage, get a fair idea of the structure of the passage. Then look at the questions and attempt all those questions whose answers lie in the part of passage. Then follow QP-QP-QP approach for the remaining passage.

TYPES OF QUESTIONS IN READING COMPREHENSION

Main Idea Questions Specific Detail Questions Logical Structure Questions Implied Idea Questions

Further Application Questions

Tone Questions

HINTS FOR ANSWERING QUESTIONS: For a main idea question, find an answer that is neither too broad nor too narrow. If the choices are supposed to complete the question stem, start by checking the first words. Eliminate any choices that do not correspond to the author's treatment of words. For a specific detail question, locate the reference you need in the passage. Don't be distracted by choices that make true or partially true statements but are not responsive to the question. Logical structure questions ask either about the overall development of the selection or a particular detail. Treat a question about the overall logical development of a passage as you would a main idea question. For a logical detail question find the appropriate reference and determine why the author made the point.

HINTS FOR ANSWERING QUESTIONS: For an implied idea question, find a choice that is logically supported by the passage. The chain of reasoning will not be very long only one or two steps. But the correct choice must be inferable from what is explicitly given. For a further application question, find the choice that is best supported by the passage. This means that you will have to apply what you have learned in the passage. Remember, this is perhaps the hardest type, but you can get a good score even if you omit some difficult items. For a further application question, find the choice that is best supported by the passage. This means that you will have to apply what you have learned in the passage. FACTS ABOUT GROUP DISCUSSION

THE GROUP CONSISTS OF ANYTHING BETWEEN 8 TO 15 PEOPLE. CARE IS TAKEN TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARE FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS. THIS GROUP IS SEATED IN A SEMI CIRCULAR OR A U SHAPED MANNER. THE CANDIDATES ARE PROVIDED WITH UNIQUE NUMBERS (AND NAMEPLATES IN CASE OF PLACEMENT OR COMPANY GROUP DISCUSSION). THE CANDIDATES ARE EXPECTED TO USE THESE UNIQUE NUMBERS WHILE ADDRESSING EACH OTHER. THERE WILL BE AROUND 2 TO 3 MODERATORS WHO WILL BE MONITORING AND JUDGING THE GROUP DISCUSSION. THEY WILL BE SILENT OBSERVERS OF THE ENTIRE PROCEEDINGS. THEY WILL INTERVENE ONLY IN CASE OF FIGHTS OR HEATED ARGUMENTS.

The basic aim of the Group Discussion (GD):

TO EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE CANDIDATE IN A GROUP ACTIVITY.
THIS EFFECTIVENESS IS JUDGED THROUGH: THE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES AND THE COMMUNICATION SKILLS DISPLAYED BY THE CANDIDATE.

FACTS ABOUT GD:

The Group Is Assigned Two or Three Topics That Are of Relevance in the Political, Economic, Social or Technological Spheres. The Process of Group Discussion Starts With Selection of Topic. This Stage Explores the Consensus Building of the Group. This Also Presents an Opportunity for the Candidates to Take the Lead in Deciding the Topics and Convince the Group About Choosing a Particular Topic. Alternatively the Group Is Itself Asked to Choose a Topic in This Second Scenario No Topic Is Assigned by the Moderators.

What is checked in a GD :
THE CONTENT AND THE PROCESS: The content is all about 'what' or the 'matter' spoken in the GD. Whereas, the process refers to the 'how', 'when' and 'why' of the GD. Both are equally important and need adequate attention at all stages.

High quality contribution by one with no regard to the 'process' is as suicidal as another's contribution, which is high on packaging with little content.

What is checked in a GD :
Analytical Skills Ability to Think Independently Ability to Articulate Thoughts Ability to Appreciate Other's Viewpoints Assertiveness Leadership Skills

Critical Success Factors in a GD :

COGNITIVE SKILLS OR KNOWLEDGE COMPREHENSION OF CORE IDEA LOGICAL REASONING BEHAVIOURAL AND PERSONALITY SKILLS COMMUNICATION SKILLS CLARITY OF THOUGHT BODY LANGUAGE AND EYE CONTACT
