HISTORY OF CRICKET
Can be traced back in the early 16th century in Southern England. First played in the 18th century. Creckett the earliest definite reference to the sport in 1598, on a common land in Guildford. Heiner Gillmeister cricket was derived from the Middle Dutch for hockey.

17th century cricket had become an organized activity appeared in 1660. 1697, in Sussex a newspaper reported a great cricket match with 11 players of such importance. 18th century became the national sport of England. 1844 the first international cricket match took place between US and Canada.

The Golden Age of Cricket last 2 decades before WW1 Australia: Don Bradman the greatest batsman of all time 1963 cricket entered a new era when English counties introduced the limited overs variant. 1971 the first Limited Overs Variant was played.

1975 the governing International Cricket Council staged the first limited overs Cricket World Cup.

RULE AND GAME-PLAY


A bat-and-ball game between 2 teams of 11 players each on a roughly circular field. The centre is a rectangular 22 yard long pitch. One team has to bat and score runs, whereas the other team bowls and fields the ball, restrict the scoring and dismiss the batsman.

RULE AND GAME-PLAY


Each turn/period is known as innings. The bowler (1 member of the fielding team) delivers the ball to the batsman down the length of the pitch. The batsman will try to strike his ball with his bat to enable him to run to the other end of the pitch and accumulate runs. Venue cricket field Cricketer a person who plays the cricket.
