In April 2010, IFC concluded the design and tendering o a fve-year managementcontract or the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), the electricity utility in the capi-tal city o Monrovia. Manitoba Hydro International (MHI) o Canada was awarded themanagement contract, and took over LEC operations on July 1, 2010. The Europe¬anUnion, Norway, USAID and the World Bank are providing $50 million in donor undsor the operator to greatly expand and improve electricity services in Monrovia be-tween 2010 and 2015.
