Personalcare services and Hoyer-Lift assistancewere added, but John’s spirit for lifealways remained.“The general thoughtfulness andcompassion that Comfort Keepersoffered was wonderful and the ability toget to know the needs of an individualwas a major reason the family decidedon Comfort Keepers,” said John’sdaughter, Wendy. John loved feeding thebirds and squirrels, and the caregiversmade sure the feeders were filled soJohn could enjoy watching nature.“In the last couple days of Dad’s life, caregiver Charlene gave me a bookabout dying,” Wendy said. “That wassuch a thoughtful gesture that, even inher grief, she would reach out to me.”John’s last days and hours were filledwith so many wonderful little things, thanks in part to the caregivers who alsoparticipated in a little retirement partythat Wendy put together for him.John passed in October, 2012, havinghad his last days and hours filled withmuch compassion and love.
