As the computing industry advances, researchers are discovering new and innovative ways to increase computer processor performance, rather than strictly adhering to the traditional technique of increasing chip density. Some techniques, such as multi-core processors, build upon well-established binary circuit systems, while other technologies such as quantum computing require a radical rethinking of the foundations of computer science. Our team researched a middle-ground by building a simple, but functional physical computer based on base 3 or trinary (synonymous with ternary) logic, as well as a SPICE simulation.
