Demographic Informationfor Asante’s Service Area
 Asante Health System serves patients from southern Oregonand northern California communities. Te nine countiesin our service area are Jackson, Josephine, Curry, Douglas,Klamath, Lake, Del Norte, Siskiyou, and Modoc. With theexception of Jackson County, these are rural areas with smalltotal populations that are spread throughout the region.

Primary Service Area
 Jackson County is the sixth-largest county in Oregon. Itslargest city is Medford, with a population of 75,675. Tesecond-largest city is Ashland, with 21,630 residents. JacksonCounty is a retirement community with a high percentage of the population over 65 years of age—15.7 percent. Te Oregonaverage is 12.6 percent. Compared with the other five largestcounties in the state, Jackson has the highest percentage of population in this age group. Te percentage of populationover 65 is expected to grow steadily over the next 30 years.

 Josephine County is the twelfth-largest county in Oregon.Its largest city is Grants Pass, with a population of 31,740.Te second-largest city is Cave Junction, with 1,685residents. Josephine County is a retirement community as well: 19.8 percent of the population in Josephine County is over 65 years of age. Te percentage of population over65 is expected to grow steadily over the next 30 years.

In May 2008, Rogue Valley Medical Center (RVMC)celebrated its fiftieth year of serving the region. With 378licensed beds, RVMC continues to uphold its nationalreputation for expertise in heart and vascular health,stroke care, and other medical specialties.
Heart and Vascular Health
RVMC continuously maintains national prominencefor its commitment and success in implementing a higherstandard of heart and vascular care. Te Heart and VascularCenter at RVMC has been nationally recognized and usesthe latest diagnostic and treatment technologies. Our heartand vascular team performs a wide range of procedures atRVMC, from angioplasty to catheterization to open heartsurgery. Afterward, our Cardiac Rehabilitation program helpspatients recover quickly and maintain healthy lifestyles.
Cancer Care
Because early detection is critical to successful cancertreatment, our program begins with advanced diagnostictechnology—from a 64-slice C scanner to digitalmammography. After diagnosis, Dubs Cancer Center providesthe most current radiation oncology treatments. In 2008, ourcancer program included the services of a cancer navigator tohelp guide a patient’s treatment, a dedicated oncology unit with all private rooms, pediatric oncology, outpatient infusionservices, oncology social work, Home Care, and AsanteHospice Services. RVMC also offered access to advanced women’s cancer surgeries through our unique partnership with Oregon Health & Science University. In 2009, withthe help of community donations, RVMC will be offeringthe omoTerapy® cancer treatment system—the mostprecise form of radiation therapy available.
ASSET
Te Acute S-Segment Elevation ask Force (ASSE) is aquick-response program to immediately route suspected heartattack patients directly to the RVMC Heart CatheterizationLaboratory. ASSE has successfully produced some of thelowest published mortality rates in the United States andrepresents a coordinated effort among five hospitals andseven emergency response systems:• Ashland Community Hospital• Fairchild Medical Center• Providence Medford Medical Center• Rogue Valley Medical Center• Tree Rivers Community Hospital• American Medical Response in Josephine County • Ashland Fire and Rescue• Jackson County Fire District 3• Medford Fire Department• Mercy Flights• Northern Siskiyou Ambulance• Rogue River Fire District
Women and Children’s Services
In 2008, RVMC continued to offer the region’s only MaternalFetal Medicine Clinic and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit—services rarely found in an area of this size. Designated asthe region’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, RVMCis dedicated to ensuring the good health of our children.
Neurosciences
Te Joint Commission, which evaluates and accreditshealthcare organizations and programs in the United States,awarded Primary Stroke Center certification to RVMC,making it the region’s only hospital to earn the Gold Sealof Approval™ for stroke care.

Emergency Department
Te Emergency Department at RVMC is uniquely equippedfor trauma, cardiac, pediatric, orthopedic, obstetric, andpsychiatric care.
Francis Cheney Family Place
Te Family Place provided temporary lodging forout-of-town patients and their families while they receivedtreatment at RVMC.
Hospice Services
 Asante Hospice Services provided pain and symptommanagement for end-of-life care, making it possible forpatients to remain at home with their loved ones.
Imaging Services
Te 31,500-square-foot Integrated Diagnostic Imaging Centeris the region’s preeminent provider of modern medical imaging.
Rehabilitation Services
 At RVMC, our integrated approach provided an effectivetransition from one level of care to the next that includeda comprehensive outpatient unit. Te 2007 completion of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center eliminated the needfor patients to relocate for therapeutic services.
Joint Replacement Center
RVMC has the region’s only dedicated joint replacementcenter with minimally invasive, computer-assisted navigationtechnology that shortens hospital stays and speeds recovery.
